aliens8us Posted July 22, 2015 Report Posted July 22, 2015 Not 100% sure where this post would go, so I apologize if this is in the wrong area. As I was going over my HWT Pack and making some adjustments here and there, I came across a CB Radio in my grandfather's garage. I wanted to see if it would look good with a small CB hand speaker attached to the side while the curly radio wire is hooked up to the 'radio'. So this got me thinking about the radio chatter on police channels. Ive read somewhere there is something like that but Star Wars themed (?). I have the Voicebooster speaker that came with the iComm. So I know it's possible of using my iPod with the speaker at the same time with my microphone. I would assume the troopers at MEPD would have something like that. Can anyone help? Quote
Dark PWF[Staff] Posted July 22, 2015 Report Posted July 22, 2015 Are you trying to find audio files, or have both systems functioning at the same time? Quote
aliens8us Posted July 22, 2015 Author Report Posted July 22, 2015 Both I think. I'm under the impression that you can have an audio file play from your iPod hooked up with the Voicebooster speaker at the same time with my voice Quote

The link for the files is on the 501st website. I'll see if I can find it later today. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk Quote

justjoseph63[Staff] Posted July 25, 2015 Report Posted July 25, 2015 Great idea about the radio chatter coming from the pack, Jonathan! Can't believe no one has thought about that yet. I don't know if the CB hand speaker would be a good idea, though, as it is may not pass HWT approval, but the thought of having radio static actually coming from the pack has definitely grabbed my interest. Keep us up to date! Quote
aliens8us Posted July 27, 2015 Author Report Posted July 27, 2015 Im already a HWT as of 2 months ago ðŸ˜! I added the mini CB hand speaker to the side of the pack as a detail for the radio on the pack. The radio chatter MP3 tracks are connected to the Aker voicebooster speaker as well as my iComm. This effect sounds great and authentic, at least for 2 hours. The iComm for whatever reason starts acting up and cuts out my speach or cuts in and out. I simply used a door hinge as a bracket to hold the CB handset Quote
aliens8us Posted August 2, 2015 Author Report Posted August 2, 2015 (edited) To give you an update on this blog, I asked afew of my friends if they had speakers with its own power source. My neighbor loaned me his personal iHome speaker. This works pretty good and the sound quality is decent. I purchased today a speaker that was on sale called the Tech and Play Bluetooth Speaker. Both can be purchased at Walgreen's for roughly $22. The loudness is really good and clear. I was running the Sandtrooper radio chatter from my Samsung Galaxy S5. The odd thing I noticed that the speaker seemed to be picking up an FM/AM station somewhere but was extremely faint. Guess it adds to the 'atmosphere'. So I put my phone and the speaker (hooked up with a audio cable) in the radio box of the HWT Pack. And it sounds great. My thought was to take some of the battery 'pressure' off of the Aker voicebooster that I already use with the iComm. So I recommend to you troopers on trying this out. Now it sounds like radio chatter coming from the radio! Edited August 2, 2015 by aliens8us Quote

Keep us up to date! Late as usual to another thread, on my TD backpack I basically took a old 2" PC speaker spliced in a 3.5mm cable with a male jack. Picked up a $20 audio amp at Radio Shack, plugged in the speaker cable out, installed a 36" 3.5mm patch cable into the inlet side of the amp, the other end into a $10 mp3 player i connect to my canvas belt. On my TD the radio face has holes simulating authentic radio speaker cover and finished drilling through the cover and glued the speaker in place just behind that area. Our HWT packs are quite a bit different especially they're not a s detailed (IMO). Has anyone tryed something similar with the HWT packs and have any pics? Edited August 4, 2015 by ukswrath 1 Quote
TKDanYoung[TK] Posted February 23, 2016 Report Posted February 23, 2016 A bit late of an edit as well. When I built my first version (a TD pack) I had a second aker in the radio box playing radio chatter, so that way it came from my pack. My second Aker was in my chest for my speaking. I ran into an issue while using one Aker for both, that all the sound was coming from my pack, including my speech. I'd have to turn around for my handlers to hear me. Then to get the balance right between the chatter and my voice was difficult, so I opted for 2 akers. Quote

You could contact the owner on the legion boards https://www.501st.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=28538 Looks like he updated his thread and now has all the sounds on his own website -------------- Now although some tracks say "Buy Digital Track" you can enter $0.00 and it will allow you to download any of the other audio files but if you are feeling generous you could flick him some credits . The TK is too large for web so is on his Youtube channel https://www.youtube.com/c/Astrofreq/featured Here's the TK loop To download to audio clip you could use a free online converter there are heaps of them just Google "free online youtube audio converter", I use this one https://y2mate.is/en4/, just copy and enter the youtube link, wait for it to load, then select quality then download. As it is free software it can open up other pages just close those down. Edited July 9, 2022 by gmrhodes13 link removed no longer working Quote

Question for you, I used the y2mate link, entered the youtube url, I am prompted to download a free extension. Clicking this prompts me to install Secure Way chrome extension which in part wants to change my default search engine to Secure Way powered by Bing. Did you install this chrome extension? No I didn't After you enter the url sometimes another page opens, close that page, then you are back to the download page, when you click Convert another page will open, close that too. You shouldn't have to install anything I'm aware. Quote

Same result in the end. Thanks for your help 1 Quote
