Airborne Trooper[501st] Posted August 15, 2015 Report Posted August 15, 2015 Oh wow! Those are super nice! If I wasn't going with Tony's speaker hovi's I would upgrade to those from my "Mike" tips Quote
ukswrath[Staff] Posted August 15, 2015 Report Posted August 15, 2015 They're basically the same tips with the exception mine have speakers. Quote
Ryth_[501st] Posted August 16, 2015 Author Report Posted August 16, 2015 I'd go for One of those, but I'm in for Aker+icom setup. 😀 Quote
Ryth_[501st] Posted August 16, 2015 Author Report Posted August 16, 2015 Used the slot screw as hinges, since I'm missing the washer.. and iiiit's sunday. Quote
Ryth_[501st] Posted August 16, 2015 Author Report Posted August 16, 2015 Adjusted the helmet "hinges" with a new drill hole... and now it's perfect! Ears next! Quote
Ryth_[501st] Posted August 16, 2015 Author Report Posted August 16, 2015 Doing rivets now. Cod next. Quote
Ryth_[501st] Posted August 16, 2015 Author Report Posted August 16, 2015 Shoutout to my fellow garrisoner TK 17113. Gotten a lot of help from him in these last stages of the build. Quote
Ryth_[501st] Posted August 16, 2015 Author Report Posted August 16, 2015 (edited) Question about the side(ab) and butt snaps. I've got prym sport&camping, and the backside of those looks nowhere as good as everyone elses. What shoud I get? This is the kind of stuff you're not prepared for. Example taken from a cent thread (tk44678) Mine beauty Edited August 16, 2015 by Ryth_ Quote
Kredal[TK] Posted August 16, 2015 Report Posted August 16, 2015 Those are Dritz 5/8 inch snaps from Joanns. (: Quote
Ryth_[501st] Posted August 16, 2015 Author Report Posted August 16, 2015 (edited) Is that the correct size for ab and butt snaps? I'll visit some sewing stores tomorrow. As I said, that was just an example. Most people got a nicer snap. (tk-15359) Edited August 16, 2015 by Ryth_ Quote
Kredal[TK] Posted August 16, 2015 Report Posted August 16, 2015 Your snaps are fine. Don't need the extra decoration there... unless you really want to make your butt look pretty. (: Quote
Ryth_[501st] Posted August 17, 2015 Author Report Posted August 17, 2015 (edited) There's no more shape to mine... annoying. Anywho, today I bought: - epoxy 2-component - primer - tamiya grey spraypaint for the thermal detonator - humbrol white gloss 22 - washers So far I've painted the split rivets on the sides. Also, the crotch rivet is nickle, not brass.. So I'll have to fix that when applying for cent in the future. Finally riveted the lid onto the cap. #feelsgood Edited August 17, 2015 by Ryth_ Quote
Ryth_[501st] Posted August 20, 2015 Author Report Posted August 20, 2015 Done. Tube needed paint - pretty damn good color I think. Quote
ukswrath[Staff] Posted August 20, 2015 Report Posted August 20, 2015 (edited) Hey Stein looking good sir Judging by the very nice build you have going on I have a suggestion about your TD clips. Notice the placement of your mounting screws compared the reference pic I've provided. Though where yours are mounted won't effect any approvals it will definitely be suggested as something to change for accuracy sake. Edited August 20, 2015 by ukswrath Quote
Ryth_[501st] Posted August 20, 2015 Author Report Posted August 20, 2015 I knew about that. Bought it finished from Imperal Supply Depot. Little did I know that it would be that much off.

Not much to do at this point. I think I can easily fix it with new and better made hooks, since the holes are that much off center. Quote

Did you make the hooks yourself? Quote
Ryth_[501st] Posted August 20, 2015 Author Report Posted August 20, 2015 Bought from Imperal Supply Depot in England. It was their first run. Quote
Ryth_[501st] Posted August 21, 2015 Author Report Posted August 21, 2015 (edited) Issues with the ammo pack on tigh. Looks to me that one side will run long. Is this the correct placement? Note that I haven't cut out the "turn" just yet. Is the placement right to the angle of the tigh? Or did I missplace? So hard to compare with other pictures, since the molds are different. Ukswraths AM / ATA were a bit different from what I could see. And look at that mess. One day till deadline. Tooot tooot Edited August 21, 2015 by Ryth_ Quote
Airborne Trooper[501st] Posted August 21, 2015 Report Posted August 21, 2015 From my understanding, you want the edge on the outside to be as flush as you can, then center the 3rd ammo block with the middle of the thigh. Try to get the inner edge as close as you can to be flush but it's not a big deal if you can't. 1 Quote
firebladejedi[TK] Posted August 21, 2015 Report Posted August 21, 2015 It should wrap the thigh all the way around apart from the rear edge like this Quote
Ryth_[501st] Posted August 22, 2015 Author Report Posted August 22, 2015 Thanks a bunch, that helped a lot. The tigh is now done, did it at Comicon, so I missed the mark and had to drill one more hole... but it's not noticable. Quote
firebladejedi[TK] Posted August 23, 2015 Report Posted August 23, 2015 You can always make up some goop and fill any extra holes using scrap abs you have from your build. Quote
