ukswrath[Staff] Posted July 23, 2015 Report Posted July 23, 2015 (edited) I swear Steve we must have been thinking about the same thing, besides taking a phone call in delaying me I was going to post this.... lol Edited July 23, 2015 by ukswrath Quote
Ryth_[501st] Posted July 23, 2015 Author Report Posted July 23, 2015 I think there's edge left. But this is the only part I trimmed w/o reference since my GF tool my macbook that night. I'll add more pictures of it when I'm home. Quote

Locitus[Admin] Posted July 23, 2015 Report Posted July 23, 2015 Pretty dang close, what do you think Steve? Looks fine to me. The thickness of that plate itself is to me a larger issue, but that's not Stein's fault but something Walt should fix for future kits. Quote
Ryth_[501st] Posted July 24, 2015 Author Report Posted July 24, 2015 (edited) @Loctius, @Gazmosis, @ukswrath: To mee it looks like mine button cover is bigger than those you posted. Becaue my edges is close to the rised edge of the armor, and if I remove any more... it's no go. Anyway, thanks for all the help and good words on the way. Much appreciated! === Today === Not working today, so more time for cleaning the house and working on the armor. Magnets are booked for strapping webbing onto the armor so I can test fit it. To me that's a good way to figure out what more to trim. Here's my working station... good lord it's messy. Also, doubletapped the buttons with a screwdriver, and they sit a bit better now. Off to make 20 more snap plates! Edited July 24, 2015 by Ryth_ Quote
Airborne Trooper[501st] Posted July 24, 2015 Report Posted July 24, 2015 I've been making snaps lately too. By the time I get home from work, eat, and play with the kids some, it's almost 8pm or just past. My neighbors are not a fan of me banging a hammer on my back porch now. Quote
Ryth_[501st] Posted July 24, 2015 Author Report Posted July 24, 2015 (edited) Hoping I'll finish till then Strapping up the back now. Trying to line things up properly. Remember, I'll trim more after it's ready to "wear". It blurs out, but the snap plate sheet is made by Billhag TK1650 Edited July 24, 2015 by Ryth_ Quote
Chills[TK] Posted July 24, 2015 Report Posted July 24, 2015 I think the button plate looks pretty good. Quote
Locitus[Admin] Posted July 24, 2015 Report Posted July 24, 2015 I think the button plate looks pretty good. It's almost twice as thick as an original button plate. Quote
ukswrath[Staff] Posted July 24, 2015 Report Posted July 24, 2015 It's almost twice as thick as an original button plate. Guessing here but I think he's looking at it from the top down, not the side Quote

Ryth_[501st] Posted July 25, 2015 Author Report Posted July 25, 2015 (edited) Visit from my gfs family today, so not much work done. Also, armor workshop tomorrow is cancelled. I'm gluing the last straps onto the ab and back.. adding one more to each shoulder for connection to bicep. I guess I'll work on strapping back and chestpiece together tomorrow. Can't find that clever tool to make holes.. 26 days till deadline. sh*t Edited July 25, 2015 by Ryth_ Quote
Ryth_[501st] Posted July 26, 2015 Author Report Posted July 26, 2015 My workstation at this moment. Glued 1/2 of coverstrip on the last side on the last arm. Still working on the calfs... Made coverstrips for the front now. Will be putting coverstrips inside and out here. Glued more webbing plates. Still need to find that holepuncher so I can work on the elastic. Work in progress to adjust how I want it to sit on me. Still no idea how to finish the elastic at this point. Quote
Kredal[TK] Posted July 26, 2015 Report Posted July 26, 2015 Seriously: soldering iron for punching holes in elastic. It works like a light saber, cauterizing the wound as it cuts, to keep the elastic from fraying. (: 1 Quote
Ryth_[501st] Posted July 27, 2015 Author Report Posted July 27, 2015 That worked Kredal! So onto the strapping. It's quite flush in the back, meaning I'll be needing to lenghten the shoulder elastic. Also it's black elastic just for testing. Can't waste my 2 inch white elastic here. Quote
Chills[TK] Posted July 27, 2015 Report Posted July 27, 2015 Guessing here but I think he's looking at it from the top down, not the side Yep, that's what I was talking about. Got rid of that return edge and brought the edges inside the raised section on the ab. Quote
Ryth_[501st] Posted July 28, 2015 Author Report Posted July 28, 2015 Yep, that's what I was talking about. Got rid of that return edge and brought the edges inside the raised section on the ab. What? Fiddle with the ab plate? Quote
Chills[TK] Posted July 28, 2015 Report Posted July 28, 2015 Nope I think the trimming looks good. I believe Tony and Mathias were talking about the thickness of the plastic the plate is made out of. Quote
ukswrath[Staff] Posted July 28, 2015 Report Posted July 28, 2015 Nope I think the trimming looks good. I believe Tony and Mathias were talking about the thickness of the plastic the plate is made out of. Correct. The overall height of the ab button place looks unusually large that's all. Look at yours from the side then g look at some other on EIB or Centurion submit threads. No biggie. Quote
