Daivyd Posted June 17, 2015 Report Posted June 17, 2015 Do I need to create a body cast to make the armour? Quote
Darth Aloha[Admin] Posted June 17, 2015 Report Posted June 17, 2015 Hell no. LOL that would be some tight fitting armor. Nope. It's all fit during assembly. -Eric Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
gazmosis[501st] Posted June 17, 2015 Report Posted June 17, 2015 It's always fun to have a body cast of yourself around. It's really expensive to make an actual body cast but making a poor man's mannequin out of duct tape is always an option. Quote
Bone[501st] Posted June 17, 2015 Report Posted June 17, 2015 Hell, no! ( I liked that so much, I have to repeat it.) The fiiting of your armor is done on your body. This is the only way to make sure that it a) fits your body and you will be able to move in it. An understanding spouse is recommended ... 2 Quote
troopermaster Posted June 18, 2015 Report Posted June 18, 2015 You do if you want to sculpt it. I guess that's why you're asking? I made my body cast from bandages and plaster and I cast my body in sections, so I had separate arms, legs and torso. Quote
Kredal[TK] Posted June 18, 2015 Report Posted June 18, 2015 The very first thing I read about making a Stormtrooper costume was Studio Creations's site on making a body cast, sculpting bucks, vacuum forming molds, all that stuff... and my first thought was "what the heck am I thinking???" and then I found FISD, and read that people had already done the hard work, and now I can just throw money at a kit, and I was much happier. (: So now I've got a kit that I get to put together, and I don't have to stand around waiting for plaster to cure on me. Yay! (but I will be making a duct tape cast/mold for a mannequin. At some point. Quote
wingnut65[Staff] Posted June 18, 2015 Report Posted June 18, 2015 Exactly! The kits are the way to go. As you fit yours to your body, you need to know if it is too tight, too loose, digging in in uncomfortable locations... all things that a mannequin can't tell you. Good luck and have fun, Josh! Quote
Bone[501st] Posted June 20, 2015 Report Posted June 20, 2015 Keto, was that your question? Do you want to create your armor from scratch? Quote
