Felice Posted June 9, 2015 Report Posted June 9, 2015 (edited) Hi folks, I'm thinking over 1 year to build a real Tunisia Bapty Blaster out of a Sterling. I was thinking how i can manage the grip installation. Now i have some ideas and here it is: the WIP The part list: - Sterling - Hengstler Eagle Counter - M38 from 1942 - power cells and metal scope rail from Andy - real sized t-tracks - real Sterling magazine with wooden block - aluminium grip - just a little bit of green stuff - and JOY!! And here is the progress so far..... The next is the installation of the back end. This is not 100% accurate because i will use the original sterling part and not an aluminium cast. I still habe a cast but this one is horrible.... For me it is fine.... Cheers Edited June 9, 2015 by Felice 1 Quote
T-Jay[TK] Posted June 9, 2015 Report Posted June 9, 2015 (edited) following Didn't it break your heart to cut this Sterling? Edited June 9, 2015 by T-Jay Quote
The5thHorseman[501st] Posted June 9, 2015 Report Posted June 9, 2015 I was wondering if you'd really chop that Sterling in half to make a proper Bapty, and you did!! Man, it must have been a tough decision to make . Quote
SofusSnake Posted June 10, 2015 Report Posted June 10, 2015 Ow, this hurts. I can't even afford a toy gun, and this is a REAL ONE?! OW, man! Haha! But hey, you people are GOOD at making these things, they DO look like something dragged through a Tunisian desert in 1976, so I can't really criticize the workmanship and attention to detail. Felice Posted June 10, 2015 Author Report Posted June 10, 2015 Yes, it was a hard to cut the grip and the back end....that's why that the Picture with the cut down grip is a little bit fuzzy :-)))) 1 Quote
Turrican Posted June 10, 2015 Report Posted June 10, 2015 You have not cut the real Sterling in parts , haven't you? Quote
Dday[501st] Posted June 10, 2015 Report Posted June 10, 2015 You have not cut the real Sterling in parts , haven't you? Yup, he did! Well, now he has a real parts bapty, pretty rare there. Quote
jkno Posted June 10, 2015 Report Posted June 10, 2015 I'm a bit sad seeing the beautiful Sterling cut in half, but the result will be fantastic and pretty unique. Quote
Sonnenschein Posted June 10, 2015 Report Posted June 10, 2015 Why did Bapty cut it in the first place? Quote
The5thHorseman[501st] Posted June 10, 2015 Report Posted June 10, 2015 Why did Bapty cut it in the first place? I think Tunisian's law regarding firearms didn't authorized them to have real guns as props, so they had to make the Sterlings non functional. Quote
SofusSnake Posted June 10, 2015 Report Posted June 10, 2015 Yeah, the Tunisian governments regulations made it necessary to have the weapons rendered "unusable" for filming to take place at all. I guess those laws aren't applied to the area today though, with the recent developments in that particular part of the world.. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1 Quote
T-Jay[TK] Posted June 11, 2015 Report Posted June 11, 2015 Felix, will you tell us a bit more about that aluminum grip? How was that made? You didn't shape that out of a solid block, didn't you?! Quote
SofusSnake Posted June 13, 2015 Report Posted June 13, 2015 (edited) Felix, will you tell us a bit more about that aluminum grip? How was that made? You didn't shape that out of a solid block, didn't you?! Looks molded/cast and then milled/filed/sanded down, cause of the small imperfections/bubbles. Lost wax/styrofoam cast, perhaps? That's some THICK aluminium. Angle grinder is also an alternative. Edited June 13, 2015 by SofusSnake Quote
RoCKo[501st] Posted June 13, 2015 Report Posted June 13, 2015 Congrats on a very rare variant of the E-11, i'm green in envy! I have all parts to build my own too except for the aluminium parts. I'm curious about the grip too!!! I have been looking for ages for a accurate aluminium grip and butt part... Possible small run??? Quote
Ghost Posted June 13, 2015 Report Posted June 13, 2015 Looking forward to seeing the end result Felix! Awesome work!!! Quote
Truimphmark[TK] Posted June 15, 2015 Report Posted June 15, 2015 Hi Felix what is the dimensions from the back of the folding stock hinge to the cut you done please Quote
Felice Posted June 23, 2015 Author Report Posted June 23, 2015 And here are some updates.....the grip installation and the filling of the rear sight. We start with some drawings:-) For the rigger guard i will use 10mm steel, not Aluminium. And here is the result... not perfect but i love it:-) And now the rear sight (for both i used a special epoxyd resin particular for metal; in the past i used green stuff) Just a little bit of sanding and this chapter is finished:-) And yes: i have to paint the whole blaster.... Cheers, Felix Quote
The5thHorseman[501st] Posted June 23, 2015 Report Posted June 23, 2015 Very nice work with the trigger guard! Will you weld it in position or will you screw it on? Quote
Felice Posted June 29, 2015 Author Report Posted June 29, 2015 Hi Germain, i welded it in that position and fixed it with epoxy resin;-) I don't use any screws for the hole project.... just rivets Quote
Novak Dimon[TK] Posted June 29, 2015 Report Posted June 29, 2015 Really nice work, Felix! I'm loving it. Quote
