tkrestonva[TK] Posted May 21, 2015 Report Posted May 21, 2015 Interesting bit of background from the guy who designed the TFA stormtrooper armor. http://www.starwars7news.com/2015/05/costume-designer-michael-kaplan-reveals-how-apple-inspired-the-force-awakens-stormtroopers.html 1 Quote
Crocoboxer Posted May 21, 2015 Report Posted May 21, 2015 Thanks for posting. I love the new trooper and it is how I would expect the design to develop over time in the Star Wars universe. Quote
Daetrin[Admin] Posted May 21, 2015 Report Posted May 21, 2015 Saw that - thanks for posting. Yeah, here is the exact quote. Q: Did you invent some kind of fashion back-story in your head to explain how the look of this galaxy might have evolved? A: Maybe subconsciously, but with the stormtroopers it was more of a simplification, almost like, “What would Apple do?†J.J. wanted them to look like stormtroopers at a glance but also be different enough to kind of wow people and get them excited about the new design. I guess that's why there is a love/hate of the iTrooper. If you like Apple, you like the iTrooper. If not, maybe not so much. I wonder what a Droid Trooper would look like, or a WinTrooper? Quote
Sonnenschein Posted May 21, 2015 Report Posted May 21, 2015 (edited) I wonder what a Droid Trooper would look like, or a WinTrooper? More functional, less knick-knacks? Affordable? Sorry, the new look must still grow on me! Edited May 21, 2015 by Sonnenschein Quote
svache[501st] Posted May 21, 2015 Report Posted May 21, 2015 If you like Apple, you like the iTrooper. If not, maybe not so much. I wonder what a Droid Trooper would look like, or a WinTrooper? Well... The DroidTrooper will likely become widely available in many different shapes, yet all of them have a similar look and feel. It will be able to modify the kit, but unless someone else has paved the way, it may prove quite difficult to do so correctly without the necessary instructions (sounds familiar lol) due to the wide array of configuration possibilities. Thankfully many people will have it, so chances are likely someone else already did what you want to do. Many will complain some versions of the DroidTrooper stole the looks from the iTrooper. As for the WinTrooper, it seems as if it has caught up with the times than how things used to be, it is accessible, and while there's not a wife arrange of possibilities available as with the Android. The WinTrooper has a look more of it's own, it seems to be quite a stable build and more user friendly. 1 Quote
camprandall Posted May 21, 2015 Report Posted May 21, 2015 The iTrooper comes with proprietary gaskets and glue and a helmet that you don't get to assemble and really shouldn't take apart without taking it to a special lab. All strapping is hidden and shrouded in mystery. I think the DroidTrooper would come with 427 pieces of various ingredients that you can configure however you want, but you'll need to spend two days unlocking the package so you can do so. The WinTrooper will just give you all the parts in the form of white squares and you'll have to figure out how you prefer to arrange them to look the way you think it should look. 3 Quote
