edwinfabian[TK] Posted October 29, 2015 Report Posted October 29, 2015 Hi Clint, Your thread is awesome, very helpful, thank you for documenting your build so well. I have a question for you, early on, when you had the Anovos gaskets, you mentioned that you took off the glue tabs and sewed together the shoulder pieces. Did the thread rip through the gaskets at all? And did you use a special thread to sew them together? Quote
camprandall Posted November 6, 2015 Author Report Posted November 6, 2015 Hey Edwin! I think it's good to use a heavy thread, but you also need to do it nice and firm otherwise it does want to tear a little. If you clean your gaskets well first, the glue should be enough. I didn't know about that step (you know, because no one had finished and posted gasket info yet) so I needed some extra reinforcement. Overall though, that silicone/rubber mix just didn't hold up at all regardless as they split just sitting in a box. There may be a way to store them carefully, but from what I've seen you just have to plan on an alternative like cloth or Wyatt's latex gaskets (which are also insanely more flexibile!). Quote

camprandall Posted February 4, 2016 Author Report Posted February 4, 2016 (edited) Okey dokey, so it's been a while since I posted here. I figured it might be a good idea to post a brief post for each accessory I've added to this bad boy over the last months. Here goes! ACCESSORY 1: HEAVY GUNNER CANNON AND VEST I have a full build thread for the cannon, but here are a few pics. In a nutshell, it's made of hardwood, softwood, abs, pvc, electrical conduit, 3D printed ABS and bondo, filler, etc. I used whatever I could to get this freaking thing together. The vest was made by Chris Hale and I'm very happy with it! Edited February 4, 2016 by camprandall Quote
camprandall Posted February 4, 2016 Author Report Posted February 4, 2016 (edited) ACCESSORY 2: F-11D Blaster Rifle This was the full kit from JJ Griffin with electronics. I basically built with what the kit came with, with the exception of replacing the tac light with a powerful mini flashlight, recommended by Javier Esqueda. Great kit and blaster! I apparently was burnt out from documenting things so I unfortunately took very few pics along the way. I did at least manage to capture how I put magnets in the front to allow the extension to click into place when not extended. I've also got a video showing how the twist light works. camprandall Posted February 4, 2016 Author Report Posted February 4, 2016 (edited) ACCESSORY 3: Riot Shield The riot shield is a kit from TK Sonic and then just cutting, gluing and painting. Very easy assembly. I used elastic and magnets for the arm mount for now so I could feel it out before making a hard decision on fit. The whole arm mount piece attaches with industrial velcro. camprandall Posted February 4, 2016 Author Report Posted February 4, 2016 (edited) ACCESSORY 4: Z6 Riot Baton This was built using Peter White's v1 baton kit, which was a crazy rush to get it out by the premiere. I also added leds in the shaft and made a battery compartment in the solid resin base. Edited February 4, 2016 by camprandall 1 Quote
camprandall Posted February 4, 2016 Author Report Posted February 4, 2016 (edited) ACCESSORY 5: SE-44C Pistol This is Germaine's 3D print kit, printed courtesy of Travis Macken. For cleanup, I had tried the 3D smoother material to hide print linesbut found it a bit hard to control. I then switched to my old favorite, bondo glazing, and found that much easier and faster to work with. This piece is nearly done, but not quite so more pics are coming. camprandall Posted February 4, 2016 Author Report Posted February 4, 2016 I think you hand is on fire Dang good looking pic. Can we get the background template? I'm planning on it, but I need to make some more adjustments so that it's useable as a 501st trading card. I'll have a back template as well. Quote

camprandall Posted February 4, 2016 Author Report Posted February 4, 2016 (edited) ACCESSORY 6: OFFICER PAULDRON This is the kit provided by trooperbay. I say "kit" loosely because all you have to do is trim, paint and mount. I used three rare earth magnets on the pauldron and on the armor to mount it. It connects very easy! Penguin-Padawan[TK] Posted December 23, 2017 Report Posted December 23, 2017 Nice job! I picked up a 2nd wave Anovos kit. I looked around for a completed build and I think yours is all I could find. Are you aware of any thing(s) that need to be fixed to make it all correct? It looks daunting and I don't want to get to a point where we realize something isn't right. Thanks! Quote
Harbinger[IPM] Posted December 23, 2017 Report Posted December 23, 2017 (edited) Tony (ukswrath) has a thread as well that’s pretty in-depth, and there are a few more in the 501st section. Edited December 23, 2017 by Harbinger Quote

ukswrath[Staff] Posted December 23, 2017 Report Posted December 23, 2017 There's technically two sections where you'll find them. https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/152-first-order-stormtroopers/ https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/161-tfa-build-threads/ For the record Clint has an excellent build thread Quote

It looks daunting and I don't want to get to a point where we realize something isn't right. Thanks! The ANOVOS prototype kits are pretty solid. I believe the 2nd wave comes with the little chest insert to make it more sharp, but even that's optional. My build was done in just over 2 weeks due to the Celebration rush and there were no completed costumes, build threads, or even full shots of the trooper yet so my thread is a little haphazard. Tony (ukswrath) does a very thorough job on his threads so I usually find reading multiple builds gives me a great overall picture. I'm happy to answer any questions though. Quote
ukswrath[Staff] Posted December 23, 2017 Report Posted December 23, 2017 As Clint mentioned his group had very little time to build their costumes, neitherless document the process. Clint has done a tremendous job of coming back to further document his build. Some of us from my group took what they learned from Clints and expanded upon it further as more information was revealed after the movie release. Clints group were the true pioneers, were/are very grateful to have their builds available. As we do with all our costumes we suggest you start with the CRL requirements/specifics for the higher levels of accuracy, especially now that they are available. Then choose a build thread or threads that work for you and follow along, ask questions, were here for you. Quote
