jengel Posted March 7, 2015 Report Posted March 7, 2015 (edited) Hey everyone, Going to finally get started with a build thread, which will start off a little ways into the process. Between a newborn and overtime at work, there has been so little time for documenting what little progress I have made. Rest assured, I will come back in and add in some more photos. For know, I turn to the forums for a little input on my bucket. So far I think its trimmed up nicely and is ready for some rivets. Would love to hear what you all think, before I drill the holes though. I wonder if the eyes don't need to be trimmed a little more near the inside (nose)?. Brow height is about where I would like it. I have a bit of trouble gettting the helmet off, curious How much more can be trimmed around the bottom if any? Would love any feedback you all have, and will try to keep updates coming in. Edited March 7, 2015 by jengel Quote
TK bondservnt[501st] Posted March 7, 2015 Report Posted March 7, 2015 you have to twist the helmet on and off. before setting the neck rubber trim you can take some material from the chin. Quote
Tolo[TK] Posted March 7, 2015 Report Posted March 7, 2015 I would open eyes and teeth more. Sent from my iPhone 6 using Tapatalk Quote
Bone[501st] Posted March 7, 2015 Report Posted March 7, 2015 Vern is right, you have to "srcew" the helmet on and off. And you can trim the vocoder a bit more, or it will chafe your throat. Quote
Snaps[TK] Posted March 7, 2015 Report Posted March 7, 2015 I took a little bit off the back of the neck as well so it was easier to put on and take off. Just a suggestion....if you haven't thought about it, painting the inside black. It helps when you're in the sun light and more mysterious when the little ones try looking up into your helmet. Quote
gazmosis[501st] Posted March 7, 2015 Report Posted March 7, 2015 Wait till you have the ears in place so you can trim the neck opening to match the bottom of the ears for a smooth look once the neck trim is installed. Remember also, you will need to get "S" trim for the opening yo replace the "U" trim that comes with the helmet. I definitely agree regarding taking more out of the teeth and eyes Quote
jengel Posted March 7, 2015 Author Report Posted March 7, 2015 Going to work on getting the eyes and teeth trimmed up a little more. Thank you all for the feedback. Going to be heading out this afternoon to the store. Any suggestions on the type of paint for the interior? Quote
Snaps[TK] Posted March 7, 2015 Report Posted March 7, 2015 (edited) I used testors model paint and primer Edited March 7, 2015 by Snaps Quote
Snaps[TK] Posted March 7, 2015 Report Posted March 7, 2015 Also, I bought darker lenses and better decals, if choose to use decals, from trooperbay. I definitely recommend getting darker lens than what was provided with the kit Quote
