Quadan[501st] Posted February 27, 2015 Report Posted February 27, 2015 Ok, so what are some suggestions for holding the Cap and Back together while glueing with E6k? Quote
Bone[501st] Posted February 27, 2015 Report Posted February 27, 2015 Magnets and tape. But you don't need to open a new thread for every question. Keep it all in one thread, so we can follow your build a lot better. It won't get missed ... Quote
sskunky Posted February 27, 2015 Report Posted February 27, 2015 Unless you are building a ROTJ helmet they are not glued at all....... Quote
Bone[501st] Posted February 27, 2015 Report Posted February 27, 2015 The ROTJ helmets were in three parts? Cap, Back and faceplate? Didn't know ... Quote
sskunky Posted February 27, 2015 Report Posted February 27, 2015 No the back n cap is one part, faceplate another and the ears. The same as ANH but ROTJ are glued whereas ANH are screwed together. No helmet with screen lineage has the cap and back in separate pieces. Quote
Bone[501st] Posted February 27, 2015 Report Posted February 27, 2015 That's what I always thought! I were just puzzled by your answer, because Quadan asked how he can hold his cap, which is obviously separate, together with the back while gluing ... Quote
sskunky Posted February 27, 2015 Report Posted February 27, 2015 Lol, I missed that bit. I thought he was talking about a normal helmet. I hadn't realised it was one of those helmets! Quote
justjoseph63[Staff] Posted February 27, 2015 Report Posted February 27, 2015 Hey Matthew, just went through this, too, with my AM bucket. You will need 2 strong clamps, and it would be helpful to have 8 or 10 rare earth magnets covered in tape (so they don't scratch). Apply the E6k, and clamp the ends to where they match evenly on both sides). Then attach your magnets around the perimeter. be SURE you have a "lip" on the bottom half where they meet, to assure a tight fit. Don't worry too much if you get a bit of glue that runs out... just wipe it while still wet, and use your finger to rub off any remaining haze after it dries. Quote
Quadan[501st] Posted February 27, 2015 Author Report Posted February 27, 2015 Clamps and tape I can do, Magnates I can not, as I have a pace maker. And yup. You're right I should put all my Qs in one thread. Sorry for the scatterbrainess. Quote
