Mutter Posted February 24, 2015 Author Report Posted February 24, 2015 (edited) I know I need to: 1 - paint the latex hand guards and glue them on rubber chemical gloves (for Centurion) - DONE 2 - fix sniper plate/thigh overlap 3 - replace large ab button plate (aesthetics) - Glued and drying 4 - tighten up the ab/kidney plate join (for Centurion) Anything else I need to do? starsaber25[Admin] Posted February 24, 2015 Report Posted February 24, 2015 Hey Greg. Things are looking great. You may be 205lbs but you would never be able to tell that because your armor fits you so well. The only thing that stuck out at me when I first saw your pictures was that your forearms look off to me. I don't know if it will effect your approval but the ribbed side looks like it is facing downward on you. Like facing toward your back. I believe they should face out to the side. Other then that and your little chore list above you should make it. Lets add one more EIB to Empire City! Good luck. Quote
Snaps[TK] Posted February 24, 2015 Report Posted February 24, 2015 (edited) Nice build...Add a pic of your forearms from the wrists looking in. Also, take the paint off the snaps in the crotch area. Good luck! Edited February 24, 2015 by Snaps Quote
Mutter Posted February 24, 2015 Author Report Posted February 24, 2015 (edited) Thanks, guys. Steve (starsaber25), I see what you mean. They do face to the side but I can move the strapping on the forearms to rotate them a bit more. Hoping to add another Centurion too! Steve (Snaps), Forearm pic added. I'll remove the paint on the snaps. EDIT: I had placed the snaps in the biceps on the sides instead of the front. This turned the forearms 90 degrees outwards. Not sure how I missed it but thanks for pointing it out! I'll take new pics when the glue dries Edited February 25, 2015 by Mutter Quote
I'm Batman[501st] Posted February 24, 2015 Report Posted February 24, 2015 Steve (Snaps), Forearm pic added. I'll remove the paint on the snaps. I think the side one needs to be unpainted too. Good overall build. Well done! Quote
Mutter Posted February 25, 2015 Author Report Posted February 25, 2015 OK, I replaced the two crotch snaps and the one side snap on the ab plate with nickel plated snaps. Quote
ukswrath[Staff] Posted February 25, 2015 Report Posted February 25, 2015 Hey look who's shooting for Centurion. Great build Greg As for your list: 1 - paint the latex hand guards and glue them on rubber chemical gloves (for Centurion), YES 2 - fix sniper plate/thigh overlap, I think you're ok 3 - replace large ab button plate (aesthetics), If they're molded, not buttons, I think you're ok 4 - tighten up the ab/kidney plate join (for Centurion), Eh! yea it could us a bit of tightening Only thing I would add, though it shouldn't effect EIB (but may effect Cent) is the left TD belt clip. I would suggest moving out to the edge, flush with of cap. Also, for Cent your Hovi Mic tips will need to be white in the center. Looks awesome Quote
Mutter Posted February 25, 2015 Author Report Posted February 25, 2015 (edited) Hey Tony. I appreciate your feedback. I'll be painting the center of the Hovi Mic tips tonight. As far as the left TD clip, I copied its placement based on the RS suit in the General Stormtrooper Reference gallery I can easily move it. Edited February 25, 2015 by Mutter Quote
ukswrath[Staff] Posted February 25, 2015 Report Posted February 25, 2015 Hey Tony. I appreciate your feedback. I'll be painting the center of the Hovi Mic tips tonight. As fart as the left TD clip, I copied its placement based on the RS suit in the General Stormtrooper Reference gallery I can easily move it. Regarding the TD, I would wait for Steve to confirm before doing anything, he may think it's ok to go as is. Good luck sir Quote
The5thHorseman[501st] Posted February 25, 2015 Report Posted February 25, 2015 Also, for Cent your Hovi Mic tips will need to be white in the center. Actually it has never been a requirement for Centurion, it's better indeed but not compulsory . 1 Quote
ukswrath[Staff] Posted February 25, 2015 Report Posted February 25, 2015 Actually it has never been a requirement for Centurion, it's better indeed but not compulsory . Good to know, always thought it was. Thank you for the correction. Quote
Mutter Posted February 25, 2015 Author Report Posted February 25, 2015 Thanks for the input, guys. I'll wait for Steve before making any changes. 1 Quote
gazmosis[501st] Posted February 26, 2015 Report Posted February 26, 2015 Hello there, Mutterman!!!! Thank you for this nice set of NE and for your application to Expert Infantry. Let's get to this!! CRL and EIB Application Requirements: All required pictures have been posted. Your armor meets all requirements to pass for EIB! With that, I would like to congratulate and welcome you to Expert Infantry!!! Other-Armor Fit/Assembly: In this section, I will discuss suggestions made by fellow troopers as well as my own observations. These suggestions, unless specified, will not have any affect on any application. I am thinking that you fixed a couple pics before I was able to look at the application, Ian mentioned removing the paint from the male right side snap and Steve mentioned the paint on the crotch hardware. both good observations and you have already taken care of both. Trim that center ab button plate a little close, did ya?? Although your attachment rivet on your thigh pack is correct, you have left it a bit long. I have seen these ripped off when they are NOT long. I can only say that this is a rip waiting to happen. This line is just a guide to the general location. Just shape them like you have now. I also looked at the top return edge on the back of your right shin. Doesn't that stab into your leg?? You can trim that back if it does. Nice paintwork on your helmet! Steve also mentioned the over rotated look of your forearms. IT is not a requirement to have a strap connecting the forearms to the biceps so a little rotation is not something uncommon. However in your case, the elastic you have between the forearm and bicep connects to your forearm right in the center of what would be the inside bend of your elbow. The seam cover strips on these parts should line up. As a result, the elastic should be attached to the same areas on both the bicep and the forearm. You can see in this pic, the elastic is attached to the inside of the bicep and the forearm. With yours, the elastic is attached to the inside of the forearm, but the SIDE of the bicep. This will automatically over rotate the forearm outward. Aside from out of position, I can't even imagine how you can bend your arm?? This might be something worth looking into. Your Thermal Detonator was mentioned as a concern for the positioning of your belt clips. I feel the small space you have is considered to be minimal as required. Centurion Suggestions: Although you have them, many of your shots above do not show you wearing your rubber gloves and flexible handplates. Please re-take any shots that show otherwise. When you re-take those, slide that left side drop box out just a bit. You already mentioned about tightening up the belt so those slight side seam openings go away. Call me a nit picker, but there is a slight bit of return edge still showing on your forearm wrists. But this is a 30 second fix. Congratulations again!!!! Quote
ukswrath[Staff] Posted February 26, 2015 Report Posted February 26, 2015 Awesome! Great job Greg, Congrats! 1 Quote
Mutter Posted February 26, 2015 Author Report Posted February 26, 2015 Thanks for the feedback, Steve! I appreciate the compliments and critiques. Yes, the center Ab button plate was trimmed a little too close Got distracted by the Superbowl. I've replaced it with a more appropriately trimmed plate. I've already moved the connections between the forearm and biceps so that should resolve that issue. I actually had no problems moving my arms. Go figure. I had trimmed the top shin return edges a little since the pics were taken. Mostly because the plastic was thin and snapped off, but they weren't stabbing me. I'll trim the thigh pack and forearms tonight as suggested. Regarding the return edge on the forearm, I assume there should not be any curve left on the outside edge, it should be a straight 90 degree transition? I planned on retaking all of the pictures for my Centurion application. Granted, I won't have the beautiful Florida sunshine as I did for my EIB pictures. Quote
Snaps[TK] Posted February 26, 2015 Report Posted February 26, 2015 Congrats Greg! Welcome to the EIB Ranks! Look forward to seeing you in the centurion ranks 1 Quote

starsaber25[Admin] Posted February 27, 2015 Report Posted February 27, 2015 Congrats Greg! Awesome accomplishment! You will be on to Centurion in no time. 1 Quote
gazmosis[501st] Posted February 27, 2015 Report Posted February 27, 2015 You'll have a sunny day eventually! The fact that you had no mobility issues amazes me but it's great to hear you didn't have them. On the forearm issue, you should have no rounded edge. I'm anxious to see your Centurion application. Redforce[TK] Posted March 2, 2015 Report Posted March 2, 2015 Congratulations Greg! Great job man! 1 Quote
Mutter Posted March 3, 2015 Author Report Posted March 3, 2015 Thanks, everyone! It was fun getting the armor to this level. Just one more to go........ 1 Quote
