TKDMAC74 Posted February 20, 2015 Report Posted February 20, 2015 Hey yesterday started helmet build and think I made my first mistake. The right eye is very narrow is this a mistake and should I order a new face. Your Thoughts ? Thanks, Dave Quote
Pencap510 Posted February 20, 2015 Report Posted February 20, 2015 Kind of tough to see the depth from the angle the pic is taken. Maybe post one from the front? Quote
TKDMAC74 Posted February 20, 2015 Author Report Posted February 20, 2015 Left eye facing seems to close Quote
gazmosis[501st] Posted February 20, 2015 Report Posted February 20, 2015 It seems you still have a bit of material to remove...... Quote
TKDMAC74 Posted February 20, 2015 Author Report Posted February 20, 2015 Was worried more towards the bridge of nose? If you see were Dremel grabbed it. Quote
devilmaan[TK] Posted February 20, 2015 Report Posted February 20, 2015 (edited) I agree! I would slowly sand away with a dremel and not cut with a wheel. You'll have a lot more control that way. Edited February 20, 2015 by devilmaan Quote
gazmosis[501st] Posted February 20, 2015 Report Posted February 20, 2015 The only way you can mess this up is by trimming the eye opening out completely and I know you won;t do that. Look from the inside and draw a line that evenly represents cut lines on both sides. Really concentrate an making them as close to each other as possible. Remember, the original helmet differed a little bit from each and every one. Quote
VGTrooper[TK] Posted February 21, 2015 Report Posted February 21, 2015 Being an ATA helmet, the eye openings actually have a slight cutting guide in the mold. Look for it and then use a pencil and mark those guide lines. Cut close to, but not on, those lines; leaving a bit of plastic before hitting those lines. Then use a sanding drum on your dremel to grind/smooth the plastic until you get to the guide lines. This is what I did with mine and I've been happy with the outcome. Its what most people do, and what many guides show to do as well (I followed the ones by PandaTrooper and gazmosis). Slow and steady like the others said, you'll get there in no time Quote
Fumanchewie[TK] Posted February 28, 2015 Report Posted February 28, 2015 You are off to a nice start on the frown Quote
