batninja Posted February 17, 2015 Report Posted February 17, 2015 I've decided to redo the vocoder paint job on my AP helmet. I only painted it a few days ago, but I'm not sure if that constitutes a full 'curing' timeframe or not. What's the best way to remove Testors' semi-gloss paint from ABS? Quote
fuumantroop[TK] Posted February 17, 2015 Report Posted February 17, 2015 Mineral spirits or testors paint thinner Quote
batninja Posted February 17, 2015 Author Report Posted February 17, 2015 Ah, yes, you mentioned that. 1 Quote
Mcott65[TK] Posted February 17, 2015 Report Posted February 17, 2015 (edited) Rubbing alcohol is sometime used for paint removal on model kits and won't damage plastics Sorry bad info on my part .But ipa( isopropyl alcohol) is definitely what I have used to remove paint from model kits before ,though to be fair that is styrene not abs. gazmosis[501st] Posted February 17, 2015 Report Posted February 17, 2015 Andy hit it on the head. Never NEVER go anywhere near your armor with anything Acetone. 2 Quote
Hermanator Posted March 19, 2015 Report Posted March 19, 2015 Don't use loctite on abs, I learned that the hard way.. Brake fluid and toothbrush (or 2000 grit sandpaper) is fantastic at removing commercially applied paints.. works ok on some plastic, but not sure how it is on abs. Testors Enamel thinner is ok for abs and gets enamel oil paints up quick Quote
R2Dan[TK] Posted March 19, 2015 Report Posted March 19, 2015 Who would use Loctite to try and remove paint? I think you meant to say something else Quote
