Harrt046 Posted January 2, 2015 Report Posted January 2, 2015 Hi all, never posted before. I'm building a Droopydoos pipe build and wasn't sure exactly what is painted with the hammered finish? I know the handle should be a gloss black, and the T-tracks should be flat black. What about the scope rail? and Hengstler counter? Power Cylinders? Magazine? Folding stock? What about the LOCK screw? Thanks for any insight! Quote
Bone[501st] Posted January 2, 2015 Report Posted January 2, 2015 Well, actually none of it should be painted in hammered finish.Obviously you can do whatever you want to, but if you take a closer look at the originals (real Sterlings and the props) you won't find any hammer finish.(Wait till Vern chimes in! )On the other hand, there are some remarkable Blaster builds here on the FISD, that do use that paint. If you really want to go that route, spare at least the hengstler counter, the lock screw and the power cylinders. My two Cents ... Darth Aloha[Admin] Posted January 3, 2015 Report Posted January 3, 2015 I like the look of a hammered paint finish E-11. In addition to what Bone said... make sure you also leave the grip shiny black. -Eric Quote
gazmosis[501st] Posted January 3, 2015 Report Posted January 3, 2015 http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/26588-more-accurate-sterlinge-11-paint-finish/ Don't know why this hasn't been used more. Yes you have to knock the gloss down a bit but the texture is a cool one! 1 Quote

Mutter Posted January 3, 2015 Report Posted January 3, 2015 I used this stuff on my doopy (which I can't find anywhere): Home Depot and Lowes carries it. Quote
Darth Aloha[Admin] Posted January 3, 2015 Report Posted January 3, 2015 Home Depot and Lowes carries it. No I meant I can't find my doopy E-11. -Eric Quote
I'm Batman[501st] Posted January 4, 2015 Report Posted January 4, 2015 LOL. That was funny! I'm nearly up to that very dihlema - what paint finish to go for. I like some of the recent builders hammer/crinkle finishes. I don't like others. So do I stay away from it and just do regular finishes...? Quote
