Veeds[TK] Posted December 20, 2014 Report Posted December 20, 2014 After much anticipation and saving my BIg Brown Box arrived last week. Now comes the fun part The Build!! Neuro Approves.. The first bit of paint is on. Quote
Veeds[TK] Posted December 20, 2014 Author Report Posted December 20, 2014 Now that I see all of the parts I'll admit it is a little overwelming but I will have a lot of help with the build from the guys in the Outlander Squad. Quote
Snaps[TK] Posted December 20, 2014 Report Posted December 20, 2014 Congrats on receiving you big brown box. It can be overwhelming but you'll have more fun working on it than you realize. Good luck! Quote
Veeds[TK] Posted December 26, 2014 Author Report Posted December 26, 2014 I have a armor party scheduled for sunday. Hopefully I'll be able to make a lot of progress. I'll take plenty of pictures along the way. Quote
Veeds[TK] Posted December 29, 2014 Author Report Posted December 29, 2014 Ok I need some help!!! I am putting the bucket together and the brow seams to be too low. The only way I can see to raise it up is to cut the top ( dome ) piece. I dont want to do that because I think it will create more problems. Any advice is appreciated. Quote
Tolo[TK] Posted December 29, 2014 Report Posted December 29, 2014 (edited) Ok I need some help!!! I am putting the bucket together and the brow seams to be too low. That's what I did, cut the dome. I made a line at about 3/16" and cut on the line. Sent from my iPhone 6 using Tapatalk Edited December 29, 2014 by Tolo Quote
Veeds[TK] Posted December 29, 2014 Author Report Posted December 29, 2014 Did you cut from trap to trap? Quote
Veeds[TK] Posted December 30, 2014 Author Report Posted December 30, 2014 After much shaking hands, I went ahead and cut it. Please let me know if this is acceptable, or should I cut more off. I am looking at geting EIB approved. Quote
T-Jay[TK] Posted December 30, 2014 Report Posted December 30, 2014 Looking much better now. The brow seems to have a little 'curve' on the picture above. That looks different on the other side. You can reduce this by cutting, filing or sanding a bit from the plastic under the trap. Ears could be trimmed to appear a bit thinner and with smaller gaps to the helmet. Quote
Veeds[TK] Posted December 31, 2014 Author Report Posted December 31, 2014 My Kidney and butt plate assembly. Quote
Veeds[TK] Posted December 31, 2014 Author Report Posted December 31, 2014 TD I had some help getting to this point. I was a great relief. Quote
Veeds[TK] Posted December 31, 2014 Author Report Posted December 31, 2014 The shoulder pauldrens. Its coming together nicely. I hope to get some more done in the next few days. Quote
Veeds[TK] Posted January 4, 2015 Author Report Posted January 4, 2015 The chest/backplate assemly is ready to go. I may need to do a little trimming to get rid of the sharp edges. Quote
Veeds[TK] Posted January 4, 2015 Author Report Posted January 4, 2015 The arm pieces fully cut and assembled. I still need to trim the outside coverstrips but I am not sure how much to get rid of? Should I trim it flush with the rest or leave a little to hide the edge seam? Quote
Veeds[TK] Posted January 4, 2015 Author Report Posted January 4, 2015 A close up of the bicep pieces. These were the first pieces I decided to cut. Nerve racking to know if i made a bad cut..... They turned out nice though. Quote
Veeds[TK] Posted January 4, 2015 Author Report Posted January 4, 2015 (edited) The forearm peice were easier to do with the experience from the biceps. Hopefully i will be able to get them all strapped together soon. Then to move on to the lower assemblies. Edited January 4, 2015 by Veeds Quote
Veeds[TK] Posted January 28, 2015 Author Report Posted January 28, 2015 I have made some progress in the past few weeks. I have the upper body complete. All I need to do is sand down the edges so I'm not getting cut up like cheese every time i put it on. I have the thighs and lower legs also done. I had a minor event with the ab plate, I had mounted the belt too low and had to drill out the rivets and then patch the holes but it turned out way better then I hoped for. Hopefully i will still make EIB. Quote
Veeds[TK] Posted January 29, 2015 Author Report Posted January 29, 2015 As it sometimes happens I have to take a couple steps back... I tried a rough fitting of the upper assembly and the ab-back assembly and my torso is too long. The two sections do not have any overlap in the front.I will have to figure out a new strapping system and make some modifications. I don't know if I will be able to earn EIB status after I make it wearable. Quote
Veeds[TK] Posted January 29, 2015 Author Report Posted January 29, 2015 Sorry for the bad picture, but you can see my problem. on the positive side you can not see where i patched the holes.. Quote
Veeds[TK] Posted January 30, 2015 Author Report Posted January 30, 2015 Here is a couple with the strapping on the top assembly. I have to sand down a couple of the sharper edges but It fits nicely. Quote
Veeds[TK] Posted January 30, 2015 Author Report Posted January 30, 2015 Here is the ab-back plate assembly, I had to do some modifying in order to get the gap to where it needs to be. I'll be installing the belt this weekend and doing some final adjusting. Then the big moment, taking the approval pictures. I'm still going for EIB, Fingers crossed. Quote
Veeds[TK] Posted January 30, 2015 Author Report Posted January 30, 2015 The belt assembly all ready to go. I'll rivet it on and I will be one step closer. Quote
Veeds[TK] Posted January 30, 2015 Author Report Posted January 30, 2015 My lower legs all set to go. I may need to adjust them a little. Quote
