Taking the (hopefully) last steps.

The arms are going to be glued afterwards, so are the thighs.

I think I am going to leave some more room between ab/croth plate and the thighs.

Some things need to be fixed/done:

- padding the thighs to make them rotate more

- padding the biceps

- paint the buttons (unfortunately the colors haven't arrived, yet)

- think of a proper solution for these shins

Let me know, what you think of it :)

Gotta hurry to finish it this week, otherwise I won't be able to accompany the GG's Legoland Event.

Your shoulder bells also need to be rotated a little farther toward the front of your body. Not sure if it just an allusion with the pictures, but your forearms look like they are very large and need to be brought in some more.

Yes, I see the shoulder bells.

This happens when you do not strap the arms and try to hold a forearm in place.

No, they are really that big for my body, but look right when correctly strapped.

As said, arms and thighs were not glued to that date ;)

A quick question, not really related to the build.

Is it normal for ABS to turn brownish at some edges?

I discovered that on my shoulder bells and on some spots of biceps and forearms.

What could this cause?

Yeah, that would explain it ;)

Maybe it appeared because I cleaned the whole thing with spirit?

I'll keep an eye on that.

If it's not natural for ABS, it has to be something I did.

I'm nearly concerned that it's the spirit.

I used ethyl alcohol to clean glue remainings.

Keeping that in mind and reading, that this liquid is capable of etching some plastics, it seems plausible.

I don't know the difference between "Waschbenzin" and "Spiritus" in English, but I can definately say that I did not use white spirit.

Used this for cleaning signs and cars all the time, so I suggested, there wouldn't be a problem...

I haven't heard of my armour turning brownish before? I know that anything with ammonia should be avoided as this can exelerate the yellowing. Uv will turn ABS yellow. Not heard of brown before?

Shouldn't your shoulders be more separate from your biceps and a little higher from your shoulder?

You need to padding your bottom part of your shoulders to separate them from your biceps

Look for shoulders on ROTJ strom at left of Vader, they are higher and more separate from biceps.

At right side of Vader you have an ANH storm. Compare shoulders.

Yup, you're right.

I'm working on it.

To close the color-case:

It's the ethyl alcohol, or better the ingredients that make it undrinkable.

I'll sand the edges and clean them again just with water.

If you have access to MicroMesh get some 2400. 4000. 8000 & 12000 start with a 3M superfine pad and work up in numeric value with the micro mesh. It will bring the ABS up to a shine fairly easily without hours of rubbing with Novus.

Nighthawk post!

After fighting with the padding I present you:

I know, I know, I need a holster and I am going to attach it.

Just not today :)

@Mark:

No, I do not really have access to that.

Maybe I should take a look at that.

It seems, the alcohol did just turn the edges brown, the ABS still shines (in my opinion)

Looking great Felix! Congratulations.

I'll be honest with you, i had doubts you would ever finish this build. But you managed and i'm so glad i was wrong :)

Thank you very much!

To be honest, I had my doubts, too.

But having friends with costumes was very helpful :

I know, I am not the most talented builder or the most confident.

Maybe all that made me take so long and being a bit dizzy sometimes (is that the right phrase).

Anyway, it seems as I could make it until the big GG Event!

Looks great. You've done a fantastic job.

I think you have a bit of cleanup on the ab buttons. Looks like it's dripped some when you painted them.

Thank you :)

You're right.

I am waiting for the buttons to dry and then try clean it up.

I was a bit too hasty with just 20 hrs of drying.

It has been some time since I updated this thread so here we go!

I am still having troubles with my membership.

And I redid some elastic strapping to fit me more.

I don't know what got into me, but I put my suit in yesterday and just walked through my town.

It is quite comfortable to wear while walking, but my sides keep popping up and it's getting quite hot inside the bucket (still waiting on a reply for my fans).

And then something happened I was not expecting.

A car stopped besides me while I was walking and the woman inside wanted to take a photo with ME!

That was totally awesome! :)

I will update you if there's anything new about my membership, but anyway, have a nice day everyone!

Cheers

Yes that's a great feeling!

And I've got some events coming, so I can feel it again! :)

Not running under the 501st, of course, but that is sure to come, too (someday).
