JohnnyChaos Posted March 10, 2015 Report Posted March 10, 2015 looks good.. looks like you're able to use all the original overlaps.. definitely don't follow my build. I had to use a lot of the excess material and heat bend it flat... and that's on every single arm and leg section Quote
KaitoTrooper[TK] Posted March 10, 2015 Author Report Posted March 10, 2015 Yeah, I've got no problems with too tight armour My problem here is the egg-form the biceps gets. I mean, I still can put it on, but it does not look very neat. Sent from the shield generator on Endor Quote
JohnnyChaos Posted March 10, 2015 Report Posted March 10, 2015 I used a hair dryer on mine. Squeeze it into shape and heated along the edge I needed to curve more. Quote

KaitoTrooper[TK] Posted March 15, 2015 Author Report Posted March 15, 2015 Vader, we have a problem. Finshed my shins and the looked good at first, but now I have tried them on and they are hellish thight! The only option to fix this, I think, is to open them up again and leave some more room in the front, but I'm open for any better options Quote
niugnep[TK] Posted March 15, 2015 Report Posted March 15, 2015 Having the shins open in the back is canon... Just sayin' If you want, you could do a strip assembly in the front, which might give you some extra room Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Quote
The5thHorseman[501st] Posted March 15, 2015 Report Posted March 15, 2015 How wide are the front flat sections? There should be around 20mm wide. To give yourself some more room, like you say, i would unglue the front and reglue them more spaced. Quote
KaitoTrooper[TK] Posted March 15, 2015 Author Report Posted March 15, 2015 Hmm I am not sure. I will have to measure it tomorrow and take them apart. ...oh and I had my fun with heat bending today Sent from the shield generator on Endor Quote
KaitoTrooper[TK] Posted March 19, 2015 Author Report Posted March 19, 2015 I thought to myself "before you start anything that is hard to redo, show your progress", so here we go! Fully assebled thighs. They actually fit me (I might change this opinion while wearing the full armor but for now)! Anything to do better, except cleaning? Aaand a sideway picture I could not resist taking Quote
KaitoTrooper[TK] Posted March 29, 2015 Author Report Posted March 29, 2015 (edited) Good, since nobody complained, I took that as an ok For now, I have widened the shins. The fronts are now 20 mm to 25 mm wide. It is still pretty hard to fit the boots under them and my ankles do not really have room. The only option here I see is removing the return edges I left. My TD Clips are almost here and I really hope, I can finish everything during the easter weekend. What is next now? Correcting Biceps and forearms plus strapping them and cleaning everything with Spirit. Edited March 29, 2015 by KaitoTrooper Quote
The5thHorseman[501st] Posted March 29, 2015 Report Posted March 29, 2015 You should definetely remove those return adges at the ankles or they will tear your boots to pieces, and in addition it will help you fitting the boots in the shins . Quote
KaitoTrooper[TK] Posted March 29, 2015 Author Report Posted March 29, 2015 I was keeping them because i saw that on one of Mark's suits (I guess so, not sure anymore), but when they are such a problem, I should really remove them. Unfortunately I have some classes to attend and I won't be home until Thursday. Anyway, I can finally see an end! Sent from the shield generator on Endor Quote
KaitoTrooper[TK] Posted April 2, 2015 Author Report Posted April 2, 2015 (edited) Today was the big day. First test fitting of the strapped armor. What I is wrong: 1) The chest and the back are a bit slopping. 2) The butt (edit.: actually kidney) plate slips over the abdomen plate. 3) The chest slips under the butt (kidney) plate when I move. So there is still a lot of work to do and maybe you could comment the armor And as always at this point: Photo of all parts! Edited April 2, 2015 by KaitoTrooper Quote

I'm having hard time understanding those two items... I don't know if you're labeling the armor parts the way we use to do it, so just to be sure here's a little stormtrooper armor lexical: What i could say is, you really need to get yourself a proper undersuit. That sweater is really messing with your arm parts. Also, i would strongly recommand you to strap the bottom of the biceps with the top of the forearms together if this is not planned yet. The shoulder bells also need to be brought more forward to close those gaps between them and the chest plate. Otherwise it looks pretty good! Edited April 2, 2015 by The5thHorseman Quote
KaitoTrooper[TK] Posted April 2, 2015 Author Report Posted April 2, 2015 (edited) Oh my god! I was a bit off when I wrote that. Of course I meant kidney and not butt plate. Undersuit and everything is ready, but that was just trying all the parts on. I did my homework on armor, just a bit clumsy Sent from the shield generator on Endor Edited April 2, 2015 by KaitoTrooper Quote

That is really the only way you are going to get everything set right. Quote
KaitoTrooper[TK] Posted April 2, 2015 Author Report Posted April 2, 2015 Ok, ok I will wear it next time. As already said, I am a bit confused today, so it looks more dumb as I really am. I will do it again with a clear head tomorrow. Sorry for that. Quote

KaitoTrooper[TK] Posted April 3, 2015 Author Report Posted April 3, 2015 Another day and another set of pictures: On this set I am - not wearing boots - nor my neckseal - the shoulders are not positioned right - the elastic between cod and butt is not attached yet Maybe you understand my problem better now: Because I am quite skinny, the chest slips under the kidney plate because it overlaps the abdomen, as you can see in the photos. Closing the belt does not fix this problem, even though I am not wearing it in the photos. Quote
The5thHorseman[501st] Posted April 3, 2015 Report Posted April 3, 2015 I see. Honestly i have no magic solution for that except that the crotch strap and the belt together WILL make a difference. Also, on the front pic i can see that your straps inside the armor that go from the kidney to the abdomen aren't glued all the way up to the edge. I would advise you to do so as i think it will help the kidney plate to form around your body. In last resort, if that doesn't modify anything, you will definitely need heat to reshape the plate. When you look at the original they seem heavily reshaped at the top of the kidney/ab: Quote
troopermaster Posted April 3, 2015 Report Posted April 3, 2015 A simple way to remedy the problem is when you fasten your belt, make sure the abdomen overlaps the kidney and the chest cannot possibly catch the kidney. 2 Quote
KaitoTrooper[TK] Posted April 5, 2015 Author Report Posted April 5, 2015 First of all, thank you for all these hints, I used them and it worked! Look what the easter bunny has brought be Ok, I riveted nearly all parts today (my rivets are too short for the belt...) and tried to do some strapping concerning the thighs. I would say, the length is ok, the thighs just need no be rotated a bit. (I saw that kidney plate popping out again... looks like I forgot one side) That's all for now, I wish you a Happy Easter(monday)! 1 Quote
JohnnyChaos Posted April 5, 2015 Report Posted April 5, 2015 Getting there dude. Looks like you need a few more pies.... (An I need a few less) lol Quote
KaitoTrooper[TK] Posted April 5, 2015 Author Report Posted April 5, 2015 Oh I could eat yours No, seriously, I eat alot, but it seems, I'll end up like my dad: getting weight just at the age of 30... Btw. Are there any specific colors or just the "dark blue" etc.? Sent from the shield generator on Endor Quote
JohnnyChaos Posted April 5, 2015 Report Posted April 5, 2015 Bottom 3 buttons = Humbrol 15 midnight blue Remaining 6 buttons = Humbrol 21 Gloss black. I thought the top 6 were charcoal grey, but I was asked to make then black before my clearance submission. Quote
