It's really not that big of a deal. If in fact the TD needs to be painted, just use the same gray that you'd use on your helmet details

I'm not painting the dark grey tube from my NE kit at all, though this may be a mistake; gluing the plate onto the cylinder was the very first thing I did to the kit. But it looks enough like the pictures I've checked that I've moved on to much bigger and better worries :)

The original tubes aren't painted either. They were made grey.

I'm using a grey pvc plumbing pipe. Color is a kind of warm gray that seems to match well with the reference pictures.

Plumbing pipe is what they used too.

what sized pipe? I used two and a half in diameter and it just looks big to me.

46 mm diameter if I recall correctly.

My RT-Mod didn't come with a pipe so I'm thinking a piece of pvc would do the trick. If 46 mm is the correct diameter what would be the correct length (without the end caps)?

Tell Rob you didn't get the PVC. I'm sure he'll square you away. Then, you can use that same spray paint above, that StarSaber used. Same paint that I used. Although, it might very well be cheaper to buy a piece of Gray PVC plumbing pipe than to buy the paint, which isn't expensive either.

The correct diameter PVC is not readily available in the US. Ordering it from overseas can be expensive. You might want to consider acrylic tubing

Just another thought, if you get the piece from Rob, you will know that it will work with the TD pieces that came with your kit.

Hi guys, just buy a larger diameter gray PVC pipe, cut away a strip and close it on the new diameter. Help yourself with a heat gun to shape the new pipe to match the end caps.

I've done that way with a 75 mms pipe, and worked perfectly. The trimming is barely unnoticeable. You don't need to paint it.
