Been helping a few fellow members out with this tip so thought I would share with the rest of my brothers and sisters.

The biggest reason why snaps fail is the fact that some snap tools won't flare the post out enough and you only roll the post over.

You will need a Philips head screwdriver, once your snap is together place the tip of the screwdriver on top of the post then hit with a hammer.

You can now see the post has been splayed out in to 4 pieces.

Now use the snap tool that came with the kit and the posts will flare out.

Now if there are any bit still sticking up use a bolt, rod or hex bolt, anything that will fit inside the snap and give that a tap.

And now you are done.

Works on both snaps too

This is awesome!  I've had a few snaps come apart on me recently, having used just the snap flare tool.   Thanks Glen!

Thanks this is worth doing by giving all the snaps a once over.

Perfect timing and GREAT idea!  I am about to be doing several dozen of these over the next few days.  Thanks!

I've had problems with the straps for my shoulder bell to biceps coming unsnapped. I replaced the straps using this tip and they held beautifully yesterday at an event!!!

Thanks Q!! :jc_doublethumbup:

I've been doing my snaps like this too after seeing this. Cheers Q!

I put rivets though the back of the stud snap too...  and splitting the cap set happens when you use the snap press pliars.

this is a great way to use the anvil method!

I just found this tutorial and the timing could not be better.  What a great idea and thanks for doing this.  I am adding snaps to my armor and would like to avoid the embarrassment of an arm or shoulder falling off.  Thanks again!
