Darth Fader 92 Posted October 8, 2014 Report Posted October 8, 2014 Hey fellow recruits and legionnaires!!! Im about to begin trimming and assembling my beautiful ABS ATA Armor. i did a lot of research and looked up and down these forums to hopefully have the armor pieces in the right place. Will appreciate any feedback and tips as i go along. Unfortunately for me, My photos are too big for this forum and tapatalk is disabled, and since i only have my iphone for pretty much everything online, you'll have to go to my Instagram: Either Follow Darth.Fader.92 Or go to Instagram.com/Darth.Fader.92 to view all pics Once again any feedback to me is vital and appreciated! Darth Fader 92 Posted October 9, 2014 Author Report Posted October 9, 2014 Nice job on that bucket! Thanks Man!!! I gotta thank PandaTrooper for his build thread! i cant wait to paint. wanted to ask if trooper bay is a good spot to buy paint, glue, and accessories? Also trimming armor as if now! Will post pics tomorrow morning of tips and tricks i read and learned on trimming the pieces! Quote
Raintrooper Posted October 9, 2014 Report Posted October 9, 2014 I also followed pandatroopers thread to the letter! Painting is the fun part! As for trooperbay.com.. I’ve lost count of how many orders I’ve placed at that site! Several more to come for my Sandtrooper build. It’s run by a SoCal garrison trooper (‘MTK’ here on the FISD). Great site, good selection, fast shipping. It’s especially convenient if you don’t live near all the necessary stores to buy all the supplies you need. Order away! Quote
illusionz_09[TK] Posted October 9, 2014 Report Posted October 9, 2014 I'm still waiting for my ATA to arrive. But I can't wait to follow this build. Good Luck and enjoy! Quote
Darth Fader 92 Posted October 11, 2014 Author Report Posted October 11, 2014 Painting the bucket today!!! Finally picked up some paints and a brush from Michaels. Gotta make sure you get all purpose all weather paint!!! This is my first time painting in a while, and with my unsteady hands, i had to make sure i mask as much as possible lol first coat on tears! Came out pretty good! left side trap n tear ears right side trap n tear Vocoder is coming out good. Will clean it up on the second coat! Quote
Darth Fader 92 Posted October 12, 2014 Author Report Posted October 12, 2014 Tell me what you guys think on the Vocoder, Still workin on teeth! Quote
Darth Fader 92 Posted October 13, 2014 Author Report Posted October 13, 2014 Heres a trick i wanna share. Once the acrylic paint has dried i used a precision flathead driver to chip and shape the paint. Im trying to get as accurate as i can, and with this technique im getting awesome results. Quote
Darth Fader 92 Posted October 13, 2014 Author Report Posted October 13, 2014 oops wrong picture. Anyways let me know what you think of my left side trap!! heres the trick/tip photo Quote
Darth Fader 92 Posted October 13, 2014 Author Report Posted October 13, 2014 more on the tip heres a messy paint job on the left tear Quote
Darth Fader 92 Posted October 13, 2014 Author Report Posted October 13, 2014 heres the right side all messy Quote
Darth Fader 92 Posted October 13, 2014 Author Report Posted October 13, 2014 And heres how it looks cleaned up after chippin and shaping the paint Quote
Darth Fader 92 Posted October 13, 2014 Author Report Posted October 13, 2014 Was also able to get the mesh into the mic tips pretty easily! Mesh came slightly bigger than mic tips but literally snapped right in. Anyone with an ATA armor will find that the mic tips have a lining inside for the mesh. i placed the mesh on top of the mic tip at an angle so one side was already in that snug area and with the precision flathead i pushed the mesh in tenderly. lol just need to glue. Heres a close up if the mic tip!!! let me know what you think of the "weathering" on my mic tips haha Quote
