SgtMac Posted September 18, 2014 Report Posted September 18, 2014 Would this be the right place to post a build on a variant e-11? Im thinking of joining the 501st after i get into another related organisation. For now that character is using a variant of the E-11. (I decided to do a pipe kit, and since you cant do a pipe kit to screen accurate/canon I went for an unseen model. Im calling the movie blaster E-11A-C Mines going to be an L, so id call it new republic era. Im using templates from BBC, and what i could screen grab from the best sterling templates ever post. Im a disabled veteran working on a very tight budget, everything im using either came from Lowes, Walmart, or a $1 store. If this is the right forum for this please let me know and i will be happy to share my work, if not and y'all are still interested, move me there, and I'll still share what im doing. I thank you all for your time. Mac. Quote
gazmosis[501st] Posted September 19, 2014 Report Posted September 19, 2014 I must ask.....why do you think that a pipe kit can't be made into an accurate blaster?? Quote

The pipe kit is as accurate as you can get unless you have a sterling... and the sterling is actually just a pipe with hardware.... basically a pipe, just not a kit Quote
SgtMac Posted September 19, 2014 Author Report Posted September 19, 2014 its the parts that can be found at one stop. I know i can get an accurate build if i order pieces, or have access to space and tools i dont own. These ones im doing are more of a limited funds and tools. Im using a dremel, exacto knife, and glue. So no hex nut or layered barrel cap, rounded not flat but cap stock is layered strips of signage, not using t track, but tube plastic. So it looks like an E-11 but a bit different. Did that all make sense? Im under the influence of migraine meds at the moment. Quote
Dday[501st] Posted September 19, 2014 Report Posted September 19, 2014 I sell a very accurate pipe kit, complete, just put it together. To your point though, everyone is interested in seeing new things. So if you have some photos, post them up for us to see. Quote
SgtMac Posted September 19, 2014 Author Report Posted September 19, 2014 Well this is a beginners build using a base tube plan, but scrounging parts from a trip to Lowes. E-11L (slightly longer mildly different look) Anther major variation of the build is that I am using the guts and grip(No electronics expirence) since it has the battery box, wires, vibration machine(grip), speaker(in the front of grip), and lights in the barrel. SgtMac Posted September 19, 2014 Author Report Posted September 19, 2014 I have had absolutely zero luck wiht foming the mag well and mags, so those will be improvised and be a basic stick magazine. THe interior of the butt plate is going to only use a spring catch to lock it open. the bar for the stock hinges at this time are just wire pins. Quote
SgtMac Posted September 23, 2014 Author Report Posted September 23, 2014 Dday isnt your kit one of the aluminum ones with cast pieces? I was looking at several build threads on here, Thats what got me started on this adventure. I know i cant do resin work( my apartment is too small) and I dont have the hand strength anymore to do serious metal work. But on to the blasters. I have the first 2 finished. heres the last pics. I had tried to make an accurate stock, but it was too much for my resources. I tried a second version, that worked a bit better, but again failed. You tube wasnt much help I redid the arms from a solid piece of PVC board, its much thicker then should be but it holds shape, better. So after 5 yt vids of Sterling shooters saying the stocks nice but a pain to use I went with the ancient Kenner '77 and new hasbro toys type. Its also easier to make. Everything about this blaster is meant to be made using the basic ANHE-11 from BBC tube templates, and then everything else is made on a "close enough" basis. This is to make it easier for a beginner to make their own prop. The toy gun for grip and guts is from a dollar general, store, the magnets(rare earth/neodymium), exacto knife, blades, hot glue gun, glue sticks, and metal washers are from walmart, everything else; liquid nails(used before didnt want to expirement)glue, no parking signs, pvc piping, dremel, dremel bits, screw driver, philips screws, pvc couplers and adapters, and electrical tape( to help hold things in place as it dries) Lessons learned, hot glue can be reheated to make welds, liquid nails glue needs tape to help it hold sometimes, pvc dust makes nasty nose clogs, always wear shoes when working(rather step on lego), magnets will outsmart you, I dont like wiring. Over all this was a fun project. With what I have learned I might be able to get a loser to screen accurate version. As i wasnt going for screen accurate on this , The parts just totally wrong on this one are spring, end caps, scope, rail, mag well, mag, charging handle and bolt, cooling fins, and stock. To do a screen accurate, build I will need to order a lot of parts. or get real good at fabrication of parts as needed. Thank you for letting me share this on here. Quote
Dday[501st] Posted September 23, 2014 Report Posted September 23, 2014 Yes, the kit I offer is like you said. I also do individual parts from my kit if you want something specific for your build. You're doing a great job for DIY materials and a general concept! Quote
SgtMac Posted September 23, 2014 Author Report Posted September 23, 2014 I want one of your builds, but its outside my price for a while. Id try to make your stock work, even if i went toy route by making it fold over. I want an accurate prop so i can hands on, while building these, I did all the comparisons from pics. But i wont let this stop me. I pla to raid the local Lowes hardware for more bits and pieces and pipes, and keep at this. Thank you for the encouragement. Im thinking I am gonna build a basic l2a3/mgc, and let people order finishing products from you casters. . Quote
