TK Helmet kit. Spray paint or just polish?

I just just received my TK helmet kit. I have watched various videos on construction, but one says to spray paint white and the other says to just polish. So, which is it?

Depends which kit it is. Which one do you have? ABS generally just needs polishing, if that.

HIPS = matte white plastic, need to spray paint gloss white.
ABS = gloss plastic, No painting, just polish.

I have an ABS one from ATA Works.

I myself want to paint my tube stripes on (using the stencil on trooper bay) how can I paint these on, without it coming off?

You can also use standard automotive compound and a little elbow grease and you will get a mirror shine out of your helmet. As for the paint coming off, don't worry about it. It adheres pretty nicely. Just make sure to care for your helmet during storage. Wrap it up in padding or a protected helmet bag.

Go look at my Ata helmet tutorial. I polished it and then airbrushed the tube stripes.

I put a clear gloss coat of laquer on my HIPS helmets and they look perfect.  If it get's a scratch and you have painted it white, the scratch will show.  Just sayin'

How well does using a stencil, and spray paint work?
