TK Rome[501st] Posted August 19, 2014 Report Posted August 19, 2014 (edited) Wanted to see how many troopers out there troop in the "screen accurate" style of carrying your blaster in your left hand, or do you do want comes naturally and go right handed? Or was everyone in Britain left handed during the 70's? Or stormtroopers in general for that matter. Edited August 19, 2014 by Jedi Rome Quote
Arnie_DK[TK] Posted August 19, 2014 Report Posted August 19, 2014 Actually, there are several occasions, where the TK's in ANH switch between left and right. Only when standing at attention, do you see everyone holding their blaster lefty like. But thats good enough for me, so I have always used left hand while in armor. At the beginning, I had to think about it, and remind myself to do it, but now, left handed comes automaticly to me, as soon as I put on the armor hehe(can that be defined as a sort of mental disorder??).And as a bonus, its easier to hold the blaster close to your body, when you dont have the magazine poking you and getting stuck under the breast plate, when you try to raise it Quote
Locitus[Admin] Posted August 19, 2014 Report Posted August 19, 2014 I troop right handed. The sterling was made for right hand use, so it makes sense to me. Quote
Vader Rocks Posted August 19, 2014 Report Posted August 19, 2014 I'm a lefty, but while trooping the blaster can get pretty heavy, so I'm always switching sides to give the other side a break. Quote
SIMpixels Posted August 19, 2014 Report Posted August 19, 2014 On general trooping duty I tend to go right handed. If I think the photo being taken works better with the blaster in my left hand, I'll swap. Then when we parade we almost always have it in the left hand. Especially when Phil is in charge. Quote
maxsteele[TK] Posted August 19, 2014 Report Posted August 19, 2014 With the weight of my THG Props "unbreakable" blaster (2.5 lbs), I switch hands. Quote
Arnie_DK[TK] Posted August 19, 2014 Report Posted August 19, 2014 I troop with my MR and never switch hands, unless it would be best, when a picture is taken. And yes, my arm is a bit sore after a couple of hours Quote
Snaps[TK] Posted August 19, 2014 Report Posted August 19, 2014 (edited) Right handed. It just feels natural but trying left handed to see if can get used to it... Edited August 19, 2014 by Slangen Quote
TK Rome[501st] Posted August 19, 2014 Author Report Posted August 19, 2014 Cool. I was just curious like arnie_DK said earlier troopers in ANH tend to switch hands but there are a few action sequences where there are multiple troopers firing left handed. Quote
Arnie_DK[TK] Posted August 19, 2014 Report Posted August 19, 2014 I believe the actors where instructed to use left hand, but simply just forgot some of the time. Quote
TKRalf[TK] Posted August 20, 2014 Report Posted August 20, 2014 Right hand. But since I'm ESB and the holster is on the right it feels better. Unless it's a parade or a big pic then I think we tend to do left. Quote
Sly11[Admin] Posted August 21, 2014 Report Posted August 21, 2014 I'm a lefty by nature, so will be Trooping ANH lefty Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Quote
TK-13340 Posted August 21, 2014 Report Posted August 21, 2014 I'm right handed, but I troop Lefty. Quote
Sandeman[TK] Posted August 21, 2014 Report Posted August 21, 2014 Lefty. I'm a lefty. Besides, the ANH holster is on the left. For my ID, when armed, I troop righty to remain accurate (like anyone really notices). Quote
Colin1138[TK] Posted August 21, 2014 Report Posted August 21, 2014 Righty,..but ROTJ Troopers seemed to have all abandoned the lefty stance of the ANH guys. Quote
