TriumphTrooper8[501st] Posted December 18, 2014 Author Report Posted December 18, 2014 (edited) Well its funny but in the midst of trimming the bottom opening I managed to cut my hand pretty badly.......5 stitches so not much more to do for a few weeks beside maybe paint. Now kids don't play with knives! Edited December 23, 2014 by TriumphTrooper8 1 Quote
Sly11[Admin] Posted December 18, 2014 Report Posted December 18, 2014 Holy smokes! There is a lesson indeed. Mend well my friend. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Quote
TriumphTrooper8[501st] Posted December 23, 2014 Author Report Posted December 23, 2014 I managed to not hit any vital spots on my hand and the healing is going well, so well that I managed to go back to working on the AP stunt helmet. I noticed a few things between the AM and AP. The AM is a brighter white and also bigger. The ears are really wide making the helmet look even bigger. It is also much thicker ABS. STUPIDITY! AP vs. AM The ears fit really well on the AP after some minor filing and moving some holes. I had to open up the head hole from what was trimmed from AP. I did spray the inside with plastidip and started painting the teeth, traps, and voice bars. I tried the decals but I was not happy with the irregular areas in the tears traps. So far so good! Quote
TriumphTrooper8[501st] Posted December 26, 2014 Author Report Posted December 26, 2014 (edited) I have been slow and steady but have made some really good progress despite the hand fubar! I tried the decals that can with the kit and even after not being at all happy the extra AM set and well out came the brushes! I used a gloss enamel and then painted over with a flat black for the vocorder and it has a neat thick look to it. I liked it so much I did my AM bucket too! The inside came out great with the plasti dip spray paint. Hardly any clean up due to a great masking tape job! Next step is fitting of the darker green lens, figuring out the padding and the voice digitizer system that is all in helmet. Edited December 26, 2014 by TriumphTrooper8 Quote
TriumphTrooper8[501st] Posted January 2, 2015 Author Report Posted January 2, 2015 (edited) The AP bucket is done. I did some things differently and mixed up some parts. I used the darker lens, brow & s-seal, frown mesh and paints from Trooperbay. Mic tips are the best as supplied to RS and other accurate suppliers from the UK. I made the foam and chin strap and sprayed the inside with Plasti Dip. I am really satisfied and cant wait to "dawn" this bucket! The other will be known as the "first" and be put on display. My two TKs in training love both! Edited January 2, 2015 by TriumphTrooper8 Quote
Sly11[Admin] Posted January 2, 2015 Report Posted January 2, 2015 Nice clean job on the inside of that bucket Michael. Thanks for sharing, both turned out fantastic. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Quote
fuumantroop[TK] Posted February 15, 2015 Report Posted February 15, 2015 I too just started on an AP bucket. Thanks for sharing, and I apolo for the late reply! Good looking buckets! Quote
TriumphTrooper8[501st] Posted February 21, 2015 Author Report Posted February 21, 2015 WARNING picture heavy! Update from last I posted. Its been 4 troops under my ammo belt and only two things have happened: the rear finishing strip on the left shin pulled away and I gouged my left boot from trying to bend my knees. II glued the strip on better and plan on trimming the back of the knees!I do have some swag on my Stanley box and a jacket that is looking good! I also trimmed my ATA chest to get more of an accurate shape at the shoulder bridges. I put on the newer set of bells too. Besides that I seem to be on the shorter side of my fellow troopers even though a little bit over 5'-9" is not short? Just enjoying the troops! 1 Quote
fuumantroop[TK] Posted February 21, 2015 Report Posted February 21, 2015 That ATA chest really looks good with the AM armor! Good job! Quote
TriumphTrooper8[501st] Posted March 1, 2015 Author Report Posted March 1, 2015 New shoulder bells, opened up a 1" gap between the bicep and forearm, trimmed ATA chest at the shoulder area and put some notches in the back of the shins and thighs so I can bend me knees better and things look and felt great! 1 Quote
Sly11[Admin] Posted March 3, 2015 Report Posted March 3, 2015 Lookin sharp mate. All the changes and mods you've done look great, and the color match looks perfect in the photos too. Well done. Quote
TriumphTrooper8[501st] Posted March 18, 2016 Author Report Posted March 18, 2016 Here are some comparison pictures of the suit today from when I submitted....as a AM 1.0 with an ATA chest and back. Now its a AM 1.0 with an AM 2.0 chest and shoulder bells, ATA back, AP Helmet and 15 troops! Submittal Current Submittal Current Submittal Current Submittal Current Quote
TriumphTrooper8[501st] Posted March 20, 2016 Author Report Posted March 20, 2016 (edited) I decided to change out my forearms with more accurate ones I got from Dan Laws that he uses for his Snowtrooper Commander kit. In comparison the AM arms are shorter and just round with no real defining shape as the film used armor. These arms also have reliefs for bending your arm that are mirror each other. As far as the suit goes this is it unless for an unseen reason it goes sandy. I cant think of anything more to do? Changed the back, chest, shoulders, forearms, and helmet to reach this point. If I can the kidney from cracking...... DL forearms DL forearms with biceps and AM on along each side The final product! with a RS Propmaster to the left! I did compare the forearms from the RS suit and beside my finish strips being wider they have the same shape and length so I feel better no overall! Now its time to get those EIB/Centurion pictures taken! Edited March 20, 2016 by TriumphTrooper8 Quote
Sly11[Admin] Posted March 21, 2016 Report Posted March 21, 2016 Yes indeed Michael, looking forward to reviewing your applications. You've spent some time and dollars improving your armor, so get cracking on those applications. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Quote
TriumphTrooper8[501st] Posted March 21, 2016 Author Report Posted March 21, 2016 I need to review the process and get an hour to take the 8 million pictures and just get the EIB done then go for Centurion! 1 Quote
