PGHtoolman Posted July 30, 2014 Report Posted July 30, 2014 Today is the day that it will all begin. Like most build threads people start with the shot of the "box". Since I am a larger guy my brown box is just a little bit bigger. Quote
Dark PWF[Staff] Posted July 30, 2014 Report Posted July 30, 2014 LoL!! That is a substantially larger brown box than most receive! Can't wait to see build progress! Congratulations, and have fun!! Quote
Starfox2010 Posted July 30, 2014 Report Posted July 30, 2014 Nice! more minds for the AM build. Quote

Shank_O_Potomus Posted July 31, 2014 Report Posted July 31, 2014 I'm having a hard time distinguishing between the left and right sides of things. How did you determine it? Quote
PGHtoolman Posted July 31, 2014 Author Report Posted July 31, 2014 Looking through the photo reference and other builds Quote
Vader Rocks Posted July 31, 2014 Report Posted July 31, 2014 Love the brown box pic. A lot of AM popping up here tonight, happy building trooper Quote
I'm Batman[501st] Posted July 31, 2014 Report Posted July 31, 2014 I'm having a hard time distinguishing between the left and right sides of things. How did you determine it? You drive on the left. Although half of us drive on the right, so that probably doesn't help much. Seriously though, there are plenty of tutorials in the Hard Armor section that discusses most. If you can't find them (ie: I don't have time to look now), post a specific question and we'll chime in here. Quote

I thought I had everything figured out as far as research..... then the box came and I was like a deer in the headlights. I have updated my photo post with the tutorials and build threads I am going to use for each of the sections. Thanks again for the advice. Quote
PGHtoolman Posted August 1, 2014 Author Report Posted August 1, 2014 Tonights progress, playing dentist. First I drilled the teeth Then cleaned up a little with an exacto knife I picked up an awesome set of files at Lowe's to finish the teeth Quote
Starfox2010 Posted August 1, 2014 Report Posted August 1, 2014 Hey Tim, Are you going to glue the forehead part, or just stick to the screws? Quote
PGHtoolman Posted August 1, 2014 Author Report Posted August 1, 2014 Eventually I would like to paint the inside and add some electronics. So I am planning on using screws to attach the face to the back. Sent from the Night Club's pay phone on the Death Star Quote
PGHtoolman Posted August 1, 2014 Author Report Posted August 1, 2014 My advisor in Garrison Carida asked me to clean the teeth up a little bit more, Smooth them out and square them up. Sounds like a good idea to me once I had a chance to look at them again. The dental project will continue. I also got some magnets and padding ordered from Amazon. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B001KV38ES/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=3AGENWXI1NDD0&coliid=I3FCS5PEJ1RF4M http://www.amazon.com/dp/B004RCLM8Q/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=3AGENWXI1NDD0&coliid=I3CY6N729WCK0R Quote

Dark PWF[Staff] Posted August 3, 2014 Report Posted August 3, 2014 Teeth definitely look good now! I hope you ordered more than one set of magnets. Quote
PGHtoolman Posted August 3, 2014 Author Report Posted August 3, 2014 Teeth definitely look good now! I hope you ordered more than one set of magnets. Yes sir, I ordered two sets. I figured if I double them up I can glue a couple of things at the same time. That would give me fifteen pairs to work with. Quote

I was given a super easy way to do the teeth that requires very little additional sanding. Use your sanding drum on the raised blocks of the frown from the inside. The plastic simply falls out and you have a tiny bit of filing tomdo. Maybe 5 min worth. Then your teeth look like so: Tonights progress, playing dentist. PGHtoolman Posted August 3, 2014 Author Report Posted August 3, 2014 Capi'tanc'runch My wife had the same idea, I just didn't have the guts to try it. I think you might have taken to many teeth out, you might want to double check. Quote

If I need to, I can use the scraps and acetone to make a slurry and fill in that last hole. It was crazy easy though. Quote

PGHtoolman Posted August 3, 2014 Author Report Posted August 3, 2014 Remove the return edge on forearms Quote
maxsteele[TK] Posted August 3, 2014 Report Posted August 3, 2014 Tim, you want to take the return edge out of the molded edge on the wrist side as well. Quote

I knew I should have looked again....GGGGRRRRRRRRR But I did get the ankles done. I will be sizing up forearms and shins tomorrow to get them ready for glue. Oh and fixing the forearms again. Quote
