TimLegoSA Posted July 20, 2014 Report Posted July 20, 2014 Well after picking up a 2nd hand armour kit, I have got around to checking it all and shaping up some bits to make it fit me. So here are some pics and if you can give some advice on any glaring errors or suggestions on where I may have gone wrong, that would be great. The thighs still need to be glued and so do the upper arms etc. Thanks in advance for any information and criticism. Quote
Grimez Posted July 20, 2014 Report Posted July 20, 2014 It looks like you have some sort of FX kit or something close to it? It might get you cleared but I wouldn't recommend it. Quote
TKedt[TK] Posted July 20, 2014 Report Posted July 20, 2014 seems like the kidney plate has to be sized a little bit narrower to your frame in order to align with back plate . Remember that the back plate has to be over or above the kidney plate. Also,,the drop boxes in the belt are a little too low. The drop boxes should be mounted closer to the ammo belt face. You have more elastic showing in the connection than it should look like. You should barely be able to see the elastic connection point at all. This actually happened to me and a fellow garrison mate pointed it out and I was able to correct it before my submission. I think this is an easy fix. nothing that a dremmel and velcro can't fix. look for some reference pictures so they can give you a visual of what I am talking about good luck. Seems like just a minor changes and will be ready. Quote
Tolo[TK] Posted July 20, 2014 Report Posted July 20, 2014 This is an AM armor. It's made bigger than the TE/TE2 derived armor and the RS/TM accurate armor. The it's made, your back olate should overlap your kidney plate. Your shoulder bells are everywhere loll, they should be more centered. Your shoulder strap that connect your chest and back plate looks too far back. I would trim a bit your kidney and ab plate. They look like they are over lapping each other. Your dropboxes are to low and should be as close as possible to your ammo belt. That's what I see now on my cell. Eric Sent from my iPhone 5 using Tapatalk Quote

The shoulders bells now sit on the shoulder correctly rather than how they looking these photo's. I have a question about the back plate though. All the CRL images and ref photo's show the back plate having very short sides that don't seem to wrap around the body like mine does. Also it shows the back plate sitting above the kidney plate. So here is the question. What way is right? Do I go and shape the back armour to look like the CRL and ref photo's? Any help is appreciated. Quote
maxsteele[TK] Posted July 22, 2014 Report Posted July 22, 2014 If I had this kit, this is what I'd do: First, I'd take apart pieces to make them fit to my body (biceps, forearms, thighs, shins) Next, I'd detach the butt plate from the kidney plate if it is molded together. After that, I'd fit the ab and kidney around my waist and cut off the extra on each side. MIght need to do some heat bending on the kidney to get it to form around the body right. If the belt is plastic all the way around, I'd cut out the front belt plastic to match what other people's belt plastic looks like, then buy a canvas belt and attach the belt plastic to the canvas per current assembly instructions. Finally, I'd trim the back plate to the proper shape, as you've stated all the CRL images and reference photos do not have the back plate wrapping around the body. For spacing, the current suggested fit is to have the back plate sit above the kidney plate with little to no gap. I think where the bottom of the back plate is now is fine, but the edges of the back plate seem to go underneath the kidney. You could probably cut the back plate in such a way as to conform to the screen-used back plates and have it all above the kidney. It's already been mentioned to bring the drop boxes up and adjust the shoulders. You had said you adjusted the shoulders already, so that could be corrected now. I notice that your right bicep is rotated much too far. There is a molded ridge in each bicep that should match up with the molded ridge in the shoulders, which will then line up with the molded design in the forearms. The molded ridge I'm referring to is different than the cover strips. Good luck with your modifications! Quote

The descriptions of what you recommend make it a lot clearer for me to keep on going. Thanks again. Quote
