Three iComm Push to Talk Options

As most of us know the PTT switch that comes with the icomm is fragile. 

 

Here are two options that you can buy and one you can make. Both require that you solder a 3.5mm plug onto the switch. 

 

Magnetic Switch

 

The first is something I haven't tried yet but I think is the most promising. It is a magnetic switch (or reed switch) I picked up off of ebay. 

 

Basically it switches on when it gets near a magnet. So if you glue a rare earth magnet to your blaster or tape one to your finger you can get this little thing near the magnet to activate your PTT.

Tactical Flashlight Switch

 

I ran across this -------. It's basically two metal plates with foam in between them surrounded by heat shrink. It seems pretty bullet proof and I've used it a bit walking around in costume with large success. It seems like it would take quite a bit of abuse and not short out from sweat.
