Thxboy Posted July 5, 2014 Report Posted July 5, 2014 Hello good troopers! I started off with a keen interest in the 501st and my kids have caught the bug. I've been assembling my ESB vader for two years and I'm happy to say I'm almost at the finish line! As a family we decided Vader needs an envoy. I found a couple of very short recruits and after doing the research here's at the FISD I discovered Walt's awesome 80% kits. Now I have two VERY short troopers to escort me at Celebration next year........but wait there's more. I had so much fun learning how to build trooper buckets I just HAD to order one for myself. I settled on the ATA and got to work. I don't think I did a very good job but it still made me happy doing it and we all have fun putting my wife (the rebel spy) in the detention block. I've even now started builds of the hasbro DD conversion since a trooper without a weapon is just a white shield. I've never considered being a trooper before. I'm 6'3" athletic build and 220lbs. I always thought ones too tall for a trooper but there's something really fun about playing the part of enlisted ranks. Anyways, I'm on the fence about taking my bucket and going a full build at the moment. I'm keeping focused on vader but after he's done, who knows...... Here are some pics if my finished bucket. Hand painted and I used trooperbay stencils on the tube stripes and tear stripes. Everything else was free hand. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote

Dark PWF[Staff] Posted July 5, 2014 Report Posted July 5, 2014 Looks quite good to me! Well done. Quote
Thxboy Posted July 7, 2014 Author Report Posted July 7, 2014 Thanks guys! The ears gave me the most trouble which is apparently a common issue. I like the wider look but the excess bugs me a bit. I think the paint job came out pretty good. I was trying to find some good reference on how many tube stripes to do. I settled on what I thought looked good. I didn't want the stripes running under the ear caps or crowding the mouth area too much. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Quote
Dark PWF[Staff] Posted July 14, 2014 Report Posted July 14, 2014 (edited) The ears are definitely the obstacle that most people fight through, You did good on the paint job, in every aspect. As for the tube stripes specifically, you absolutely nailed that one. Per the CRL, 9 to 16 per side... So, what you thought looked good looks to be spot on! Edited July 14, 2014 by Dark CMF Quote
