Daetrin[Admin] Posted July 11, 2014 Report Posted July 11, 2014 In time for Halloween? Or is that not a concern? Quote
mikedwelle94[TK] Posted July 11, 2014 Author Report Posted July 11, 2014 (edited) Thanks all for the comments. In time for Halloween? Or is that not a concern? That's the current plan. I think my garrison wants to get all our DTs together for the Halloween walk this year. And one question - how many troopers does it take to create a "fire team?" The helmet's done, btw. mikedwelle94[TK] Posted July 15, 2014 Author Report Posted July 15, 2014 More progress to show. Getting closer to being ready to re-install the strapping and put this whole thing on Blood stains added with a mixture of black and red acrylic. On the right bicep and forearm And the completed abdomen plate. I've decided I don't want to try and recreate that crater of gore the GG trooper has going on. Also, I bought this. Should arrive by next Thursday. After I cut away that excess cloth and give the face a darker shade of green, it should look pretty close to what the GG statue has. http://www.costumes4less.com/Gauze-Skull-Mask-2_FW8517S_Prod.aspx?Color=As+Shown&Size=One+Size&origin=product-ads&id=FW8517S&source=2&gclid=Cj0KEQjw_42eBRDHqcG1psmtneEBEiQAWPL8WDmeyaLAXAZfU3IAC71lmga3gC63QY3O1NmY_HhtoyUaAlxT8P8HAQ Quote

mikedwelle94[TK] Posted July 16, 2014 Author Report Posted July 16, 2014 Thanks Eric! The mask arrived today. It could definitely be better with a darker shade of green, which I'll get around to applying at some point... Also, it's wicked hard to breathe in there. I'll be cutting out the black areas around the mouth so I can glue in some black screen. I can see fine in it. Bucket off On Quote

mikedwelle94[TK] Posted July 20, 2014 Author Report Posted July 20, 2014 Flipped the mirror selfie before uploading... Starting to get some parts strapped together. Going with a velcro setup this time, because I sucked at using snaps last time. What I have so far is holding up pretty good. Quote
DizzyStormtrooper[501st] Posted July 20, 2014 Report Posted July 20, 2014 id suggest find some junk computer parts or digital alarm clock, take'em apart and glue in the circuit boards underneath the cuts and holes in your armor to hold up the strength of the plastic while maintaining the futuristic/broken look. turnin out well! mikedwelle94[TK] Posted July 20, 2014 Author Report Posted July 20, 2014 That's not a bad idea. I've got a broken sewing machine and a Hasbro clone helmet I can rip the boards from. Quote
DizzyStormtrooper[501st] Posted July 20, 2014 Report Posted July 20, 2014 thank dashrazor for the idea lol Quote

mikedwelle94[TK] Posted August 27, 2014 Author Report Posted August 27, 2014 Haven't been able to make much progress. Work sent me to NH for a while to help bail out a busy store, and I just got done... With the big paychecks incoming, I'll be ready to make the final push to get the costume in a wearable state by this year's Granite State Comicon on the 14th of September. I decided to ditch the mask. It looks cheap, and not a whole lot like the statue. So I picked up some legit gelatine prosthetics from Nimba Creations to apply directly to my skin: Just wanted to let those who have been following along know I haven't forgotten about this Quote
Nicholls Posted August 27, 2014 Report Posted August 27, 2014 Whoa that looks SO awesome! Can't wait to see how the gelatine prosthetics work out! Quote
Holnave (evan_loh)[TK] Posted August 27, 2014 Report Posted August 27, 2014 This looks so baaadd. As in a good kind of bad. I'm loving every post of this. This is turning out a lot more interesting than the Magma. As much as I'll miss the magma I'm glad you decided on DT 1 Quote

mikedwelle94[TK] Posted September 9, 2014 Author Report Posted September 9, 2014 The prosthetics from Nimba Creations have arrived this morning. I'll be waiting till the day of the con to apply these and paint em up. 1 Quote

mikedwelle94[TK] Posted September 13, 2014 Author Report Posted September 13, 2014 Alright, so after about 3 straight hours of work into the early hours of the morning, I have a uniform that's ready to wear. Do forgive the crappy cellphone pic. I'm headed to Granite State Comicon in a few hours, so you can expect much better pictures in the coming days. Still a few glitches to work out, but I'll be applying for 501st membership soon. 2 Quote
Toddo[TK] Posted September 13, 2014 Report Posted September 13, 2014 Nice. I can't wait to see it on you. You know I wanted to see that Magma make it in, but given your circumstances, this has been an excellent choice. Quote
mikedwelle94[TK] Posted September 14, 2014 Author Report Posted September 14, 2014 (edited) Nice. I can't wait to see it on you. You know I wanted to see that Magma make it in, but given your circumstances, this has been an excellent choice. I wanted to make the Magma work - it at least would have been the first one in my garrison. And you know what? If I was patient, I very well could have salvaged it with all the extra money I've come into these past few weeks. I did wind up spending a lot on extra stuff for the zombie. Too late to go back now though. Now, as requested, pictures of me actually wearing the whole suit -- something I haven't been able to do for the better part of a year. GraniteCon 2014. At the 501st table With the Tardis Hoping to find a better version of this picture... The trash compactor was built by members of the 501st NEG. I couldn't contain my excitement... Still need to iron out a few things and get some pieces to fit me better. Overall, I was much happier with the way it fit this time around than I was last year. Apologies for the lack of makeup. I didn't really have a lot of time to go real heavy on it. I guess you could say I've only been dead for a few minutes... Edited September 14, 2014 by Shel'la Tracinya Quote
Toddo[TK] Posted September 14, 2014 Report Posted September 14, 2014 You're just about there, and it's looking good One suggestion for you concerns the boots. They seem too white compared to the shins. Now that you have them all together maybe take a look to see if you can blend those more. 1 Quote
