IRoS[TK] Posted May 23, 2014 Report Posted May 23, 2014 Hi, I'm trying to open the first outpost in Colombia, I finally got the ATA Helmet kit yesterday! this is what i have so far, feedback is greatly appreciated. Thanks!! Quote
Batphobic Posted May 23, 2014 Report Posted May 23, 2014 (edited) AWESOME! I love ATA helmets. I have built 3 of them. ----------- Just don't cut as much off as it looks like you should. Don't hesitate to ask any questions! Edited May 3, 2022 by gmrhodes13 link removed no longer working Quote
Raintrooper Posted May 23, 2014 Report Posted May 23, 2014 I would square off the corners of those teeth with a file or x-acto blade, so the holes don't look like ovals. Quote
gazmosis[501st] Posted May 23, 2014 Report Posted May 23, 2014 It looks like more can be taken out of the eyes. There is a distinct mold line on the inside of the helmet. Make sure you are trimmed up to that. +1 on the round teeth. They should be squared off. Quote
Palpatine1977 Posted May 23, 2014 Report Posted May 23, 2014 If you do decide to square off the teeth, a file makes your life so much easier haha Quote
gmrhodes13[Staff] Posted May 23, 2014 Report Posted May 23, 2014 Looking good, great advice already given Quote
IRoS[TK] Posted May 26, 2014 Author Report Posted May 26, 2014 Great! thanks for all the feedback!! will try to square off the teeth... I've been trying to get the humbrol paint, but it's been quite hard to get them here in Colombia, are these and testors the only paints used?? will upload progress pics soon Quote
Cantina Security[501st] Posted May 26, 2014 Report Posted May 26, 2014 +1 on the file. Teeth are a personal preference , some prefer round, some more squared. I do prefer the sharper squared off teeth, but the roundies don't look too awfully bad... Good luck with your out post. Quote
illusionz_09[TK] Posted June 2, 2014 Report Posted June 2, 2014 (edited) I have ordered my ATA kit as well. On the waitlist waiting. I have a question, I have seen different takes on this but does the kit need to be painted. I know the ABS already comes glossy/shiny but should you create another coat to give the correct movie effect? Or just leave as is since the ABS material is already ideal? Palpatine1977 Posted June 3, 2014 Report Posted June 3, 2014 No the movies were gloss white ABS plastic while the helmets were a khaki coloured HDPE Quote
maxsteele[TK] Posted June 11, 2014 Report Posted June 11, 2014 This was the file kit I purchased for my teeth: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000UCREE8/ref=oh_details_o02_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Quote
illusionz_09[TK] Posted June 18, 2014 Report Posted June 18, 2014 this might be a stupid question, but the ATA kit comes with the brow and s-trim correct? Quote
