Folders Posted May 16, 2014 Report Posted May 16, 2014 Hello everyone, simple question, the word gets mentioned all the time here. But for a new member i need to know! What is a recast and what does it mean? Thanks! Quote
Dday[501st] Posted May 16, 2014 Report Posted May 16, 2014 (edited) A recast is someone who buys a set of armor from a maker, then makes another mold/casting from this in order to be able to make even more suits. They basically copy the work so they can make their own money on it. But the money isn't the only thing, it's just copying someone else's work, no matter what you do with it. Think of it as copying a new release movie from the store, then making 100's of other copies, and either reselling or whatever you want to do with them. Edited May 16, 2014 by Dday 1 Quote
Folders Posted May 16, 2014 Author Report Posted May 16, 2014 I see, so it is rather a matter of moral and justice rather than that the recast would be of less movie accuracy and quality? Quote
walt[501st] Posted May 16, 2014 Report Posted May 16, 2014 Well it would be less accurate unless the recaster was good Quote
Folders Posted May 16, 2014 Author Report Posted May 16, 2014 Got it! Thank you for the answers! Quote
Daetrin[Admin] Posted May 19, 2014 Report Posted May 19, 2014 There are a ton of relevant threads stickied in the "Getting Started - Read this First" forum. You may want to check there. This thread in particular I think should answer it... http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/7275-what-is-recasting-and-when-is-it-bad/ Quote
