I think this is what you are looking for, right? @riddeth

I found it as "flat head hollow rivet" on ebay. Or "Semi-hollow Aluminum Rivet".

Nope that's not it

Hey. I'm looking to source the cap rivets. Any idea of the shank lengths?

Posted

I just found them on Amazon.  Look for "Double Cap Rivets" .

Some of the kits they offer have different sizes.  A couple layers of ABS is probably around 1/16"

The double caps will work just dandy, but the ones used in the films were single cap. ;)

Is it confirmed that the strap that goes across the shoulder bells is on all known armors 25mm 14 cord or is it just based on the RS suit?

It might be due to the limited pictures showing these details but imho the strap on Han’s bells and on the LFL archive bells looks smaller compared to the top strap and in reference to the biceps cover strips.

Here's a summary of what we know of what was used on the original suits, courtesy of the images and information provided by Voice In The Crowd:

Snaps
The shoulder strap snap fasteners are Newey size 10. Gallery

Can someone please tell me the diameter of these?

And also , what is the size for the pop rivets for the helmet?

Thanks!

Archer,

Almost all the snaps on a TK are Line 24 snaps, which is a standard industry size with heads at approximately 9/16" (15 mm) diameter.

I don't have any pop rivets on my bucket and there is nothing in the CRL calling for rivets on the bucket.  They are located elsewhere, but not the bucket.

Here's an image I created a while ago to help with the snap and rivet designations.

I later changed some snaps to Velcro

I just punched a hole through the shoulder elastic with regular line 24 snaps. That should be pretty standard

Thank you, that helps a lot

I just realized I deleted an important questions in the quote.

I also need the diameter of the sew on snap on the shoulder elastic

See first image above.  All snaps should used be the Line 24 hammered together snaps. There are no sew-on snaps needed on your armor.  Don't make more work for yourself!

Check out how RS props builds theirs since to my knowledge they more replicate the original build. They have a very different system compared to what's above and what most people use. It's more rivets and hooks than snaps like the movies. But if you want to troop that system will break very easily (also just like the movies). You can see a lot here in this gallery
