Hey everyone,

I have an ATA kit that Im going to gry for centurion. Its pretty much trimmed (thanks to ALL of your amazing builds, threads, etc) but have a couple of questions I haven't seen anywhere:

1. Thermal detanator cap width. I've seen 3/4", 7/8" and pics of screen used that look closer to 1". Anyone have the definitive answer? Also, I've read some use flat primer, some use semi-gloss. Which is most accurate?

2. Also seen photos of actual prop shins from the front (attached) that show the outside of the right calf is lower than the inside? Is this how I should trim them? Or should I make them even at the bottom?

I'm sure Ill have more questions coming.

Hey,

Here's what I learned when I made my ATA build last year.

From all the reading I did I went with the flat primmer.  I personally have not seen any references where it comes across as glossy...

That is how I trimmed mine.  The ATA kit trims real easy that way.

Have fun with the build.  Be sure to ask any other questions you may have.

I'd go with gray pvc (schedule 40 in the plumbing section) for the thermal detonator. Then you won't have to paint it and it won't need to be retouched.

Just my two cents ;)

I used the flat primer and then hit it with a coat of satin gloss clear coat that I had laying around for the detonator. And I went with closer to 7/8 inch on the end caps.

As above used a flat primer then a satin clear over that

Thanks for the feedback!

Next question: mic tips.

Flat black or semi gloss or gloss?

I found the testors spray paint that matches the gray and black paints for the bucket.

Thanks!

I used a 50/50 mix of the gloss and the flat black. I think the suggested ratio is more of a 2 parts gloss to 1 part flat, but the 50/50 worked well for me on the mic tips and vocoder.
