Lone wolf[TK] Posted January 3, 2014 Report Posted January 3, 2014 Nice kit Frederic, luck of the Irish to you! Quote
The5thHorseman[501st] Posted January 3, 2014 Report Posted January 3, 2014 Looks very good, the armor is nicely fitted to yourself, it's very pleasant to see! Best of luck ! IMO, there's some things which could be improve for EIB though: - On your left side shot, you seem to have a misalignement between the Ab and the kidney plates. Perhaps du to the fact you're raising your arm but if not, i think you'll be ask to fix it. - Also I think you will be ask to repaint your ab buttons, right now they're a bit too little Reference: - And on the right side shot, it looks like you could trim a bit more of your ab plate. Thanks for that feedback Germain! Much appreciated. The buttons are getting a well known issue with the RS suits but I have seen a lot worse than these. I did debate making them a bit bigger but then decided not to as they look borderline okay Quote
Locitus[Admin] Posted January 3, 2014 Report Posted January 3, 2014 Thanks for that feedback Germain! Much appreciated. I did debate making them a bit bigger but then decided not to as they look borderline okay To be fair though, does "borderline okey" sound like it qualifies for a quality award? I found your quote a little amusing so I'm poking fun at it, but don't take it seriously. Quote
gazmosis[501st] Posted January 3, 2014 Report Posted January 3, 2014 Hey Frederic. RS sets are definitely helping the Legion to look more and more incredible. In regards to your EIB application, I need you to provide a few more additional required pictures, please. Close up of your left and right sides, Cod to butt plate attachment, interior strapping, and your Holster attachment. Thank you. Quote

I found your quote a little amusing so I'm poking fun at it, but don't take it seriously. Haha Mathias You're right in one way yeah, but I think none of the original 1977, screen used suits would have gotten a "quality" award! lol When it comes to the ab buttons I have seen screen used ones that are very little as well so I think it depends which suit you would look at. But I agree that it's more aesthetically pleasing to have them "fuller", therefore not more "screen accurate". Hey Frederic. And yes I will get you those pictures as soon as I can! Quote

Cantina Security[501st] Posted January 3, 2014 Report Posted January 3, 2014 Are you supposed to have a one inch space between the. Holster and belt? And what of the slight overlap on your right side ab and kidney plate? I'm not 100% sure but those things caught my eye. Looking very nice, looks like your almost there... Quote
gazmosis[501st] Posted January 5, 2014 Report Posted January 5, 2014 Hey Frederic. Sorry if this has been delayed a bit. We are snowed in here in the midwest US, and I did something silly yesterday; I dressed up like a Stormtrooper for some kids! WHO DOES THAT???! Oh....WE DO!!!! So let's get to it!!! Thank you for providing the pictures. Those interior shots really clear up a lot of questions for new troopers building their strapping systems. CRL Requirements All your CRL requirements have been met for basic 501st approval. EIB Requirements There is only one thing that I would like to see improved on your armor before I pass you. The ab buttons are too small. This seems to be a resurfacing subject with RS. The paint on the ab buttons, as seen in the archive photo, needs to come close to covering all the raised surface of the button itself. On an all white suit from the neck down, this is a feature that the eye moves to. We need to remain consistent on this. Post a pic of this easy improvement and this will go through no problem. Armor fit/assembly suggestions This wonderful armor is always a pleasure to see. Along your side seam you have some considerable overlap. There is a lot of extra material here. Although not an EIB requirement, your side rivets on your left side should be 10MM in from this seam. If you trim the ab back a bit on both right and left sides, you will find an improvement in both fit and the overall look of your armor. Also you should probably make a few more turns on the ear screws of your helmet to pull the tops in and make a better fit against the helmet face. Centurion suggestions Hopefully you will eventually apply for Centurion! Along with the required photos for your application, There are a couple things to look for: Your blaster photos, as you have them above ,fit the requirements but do not show the D ring. Second, the counter sits a little high and a little too far back. Here is a reference photo to compare to. On the armor side of things, Check to make sure your drop boxes can align with the belt end and look into trimming up those sides and you should be there with no problems!! Great looking armor!! Quote
Locitus[Admin] Posted January 5, 2014 Report Posted January 5, 2014 Having a D-ring is an EIB requirement. Personally I wouldn't care much about the placement of the hengstler. The originals were glued on and all over the place (frequently fell off as well). But for Centurion you will also have to add the charging handle that is missing on your blaster. Quote
Stormtrooper77 Posted January 5, 2014 Author Report Posted January 5, 2014 Cheers Steve, thanks a million for coming back! I hope the troop was fun and there were a lot of smiles on kid's faces!? I'll get the buttons touched up as soon as I can! It'll be a while before I get to it though, the kids are keeping me busy tonight and the week looks pretty busy in work. I’ll hope to get it done next weekend before my trip to San Jose. Quote
gazmosis[501st] Posted January 5, 2014 Report Posted January 5, 2014 This is the charging handle Mathias was referring to. He is correct regarding the required "D" ring attached to the rear butt cap and the EIB application. If one is not present, could you please install it then provide a pic. Quote
Stormtrooper77 Posted January 5, 2014 Author Report Posted January 5, 2014 No worries Steve! I'll get that submitted with the pics for the repainted ab buttons. Thanks for everything guys! Quote
Stormtrooper77 Posted January 22, 2014 Author Report Posted January 22, 2014 Hi Guys, Okay it took me a lot longer before I seen a tiny window for getting the suit and the paint out and re-do to paint on the ab buttons so here it is, can you let me know whether this is okay? Quote
Boltstrooper[TK] Posted January 22, 2014 Report Posted January 22, 2014 Nice build. Good luck trooper. Quote
Vader Rocks Posted January 22, 2014 Report Posted January 22, 2014 Looking good, best of luck to you. Quote
Stormtrooper77 Posted January 22, 2014 Author Report Posted January 22, 2014 Thanks a million guys! Quote
gazmosis[501st] Posted January 23, 2014 Report Posted January 23, 2014 MUCH better on those buttons I am sure you will agree. Did you get that D ring on your blaster? Quote
Stormtrooper77 Posted January 23, 2014 Author Report Posted January 23, 2014 Hi Steve, thanks, the buttons do look better yeah. I wouldn't go bigger than that though it would start looking too much like FX armor otherwise I'd think. But yes, good improvement indeed. I did get everything ready for doing the blaster as well yesterday but was distracted by real life again (i.e. work ) and had to leave it again I found parts of my old, unfinished Doopydoos kit and will be using the D-ring and charging handle of that. I only need to drill some holes where the D-ring will be going. I'll also install the charging handle in preparation for centurion one day Quote
gazmosis[501st] Posted January 23, 2014 Report Posted January 23, 2014 Good heads up on the charging handle! Quote
