DroidHunter Posted December 12, 2013 Report Posted December 12, 2013 Last night I was watching ANH on blu-ray (again). But this time I really used it to get some good screen shots on the large screen. At the start of Chapter 5, a group of TK's are escorting the good princess to Vader. There are two troops in front of her as they walk. The Trooper on her right (left side of the TV screen as they walk towards the camera), appears to be wearing a Hero helmet. The frown is definitely of the Hero variety. They eyes are smaller and cleaner. And it looks as if the ears only have 3 bumps. Am I correct in this? Sorry if it is old news here. I had never heard any comments about this before. Was this done accidentally or on purpose? Just curious. Quote
jannick Posted December 12, 2013 Report Posted December 12, 2013 They used them pretty loosely. At least one Hero was also made into an ESB Helmet, if I remember correctly. Quote
troopermaster Posted December 12, 2013 Report Posted December 12, 2013 (edited) Yes it is a hero helmet. They can be seen in several scenes throughout the film. Edited January 17, 2021 by gmrhodes13 photo updated gmrhodes13 2021 Quote
CRISTONAMO Posted December 12, 2013 Report Posted December 12, 2013 6 Hero helmets were made for closeup shots, the armor that a tk with a hero helmet is no different than a tk with a stunt helmet except the hand plates. Quote
Sonnenschein Posted December 12, 2013 Report Posted December 12, 2013 6 Hero helmets were made for closeup shots, the armor that a tk with a hero helmet is no different than a tk with a stunt helmet except the hand plates. Not entirely true. Many stunt helmets can be seen wearing "hero" hand guards; "Alternative style hand guards" is a way better term. Quote
Veedox Posted December 12, 2013 Report Posted December 12, 2013 (edited) Honestly, I don't think they kept track of what was Hero or not. If that were the case, all the Hero helmets would be in the up close shots and the stunts would be only used in the background shots. The only "Hero suits" used as intended were Lukes and Hans. Otherwise, they threw on what was available - mixing up hand guards, belts and helmets. Heck, I'm sure there are NO suits kept together as one. They mixed armor components too. Not entirely true. Many stunt helmets can be seen wearing "hero" hand guards; "Alternative style hand guards" is a way better term. Edited December 12, 2013 by Veedox Quote
Veedox Posted December 12, 2013 Report Posted December 12, 2013 Note too: Lukes Hero suit had 2 right forearms (or 2 left, I don't remember!) Either way, this is evidence that they didn't pay attention to the details like we do. Quote
CRISTONAMO Posted December 12, 2013 Report Posted December 12, 2013 true, to them or just about anyone else besides us. Stormtrooper amor is just plain stormtrooper armor. No variations, just put the armor on the actor. Quote
Blandsaft[TK] Posted December 12, 2013 Report Posted December 12, 2013 Dont forget that the hero has 4 buttons holding the holster and stunt only got two that with the teeth is the biggest differens of this two classes. Quote
troopermaster Posted December 12, 2013 Report Posted December 12, 2013 That is not entirely true. Only Han and Luke have the extra rivets holding their holsters to their belts. All the other troopers wearing helmets have the standard two rivets. Quote
ewokian[TK] Posted December 12, 2013 Report Posted December 12, 2013 I think Fredrik mentioned it following the guidelines for approval with the 501st of the Hero and Stunt version, 4 for the Hero and 2 for the Stunt, not really the movie. Quote
troopermaster Posted December 13, 2013 Report Posted December 13, 2013 I know, but I don't think that should be the case. I think you should only have the extra rivets if you are replicating Han's or Luke's armour Quote
ewokian[TK] Posted December 13, 2013 Report Posted December 13, 2013 I totally agree with you, curiously that is the main reason I went with the Hero version, because of Han and Luke, best of two worlds in my modest opinion. Quote
Nagedzi[TK] Posted December 13, 2013 Report Posted December 13, 2013 Also, it should be said that eFX will actually be offering a replica of that exact hero armour from Tantive IV to collectors: http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/24516-efx-stormtroper/ Quote
troopermaster Posted December 13, 2013 Report Posted December 13, 2013 Looking forward to seeing that when they release it. Quote
Dacrates Posted December 14, 2013 Report Posted December 14, 2013 Don't forget my good friend the Deathstar Spacetrooper! He also had a Hero lid and Hero 4 stud belt ... Along with the matching handguards ;-) Quote
TK bondservnt[501st] Posted December 14, 2013 Report Posted December 14, 2013 the space trooper actually has 2 of one hand guards, karin points out the costume mismatch in a thread. Quote

That's why I said 'matching' Handguards mate, two rights which Karin kindly made for my Spacetrooper only recently ;-) ------------- Edited January 17, 2021 by gmrhodes13 link not working, removed gmrhodes13 2021 Quote
Daetrin[Admin] Posted December 16, 2013 Report Posted December 16, 2013 Remember the 501st CRL's are not about exact prop replication, but instead given the inconsistencies of the movies meant to capture the canonical likeness. It's one thing to watch the movies on Blu-ray on your 60" HDTV and freeze frame to see a detail, quite another when you watch the movie on the big screen. Quote
