The5thHorseman[501st] Posted January 10, 2014 Report Posted January 10, 2014 First i hope your wife and daughter are fine ! About your thighs, they look perfect, they're rightly fitted to you and that's cool to see!! For the Ammo knee belt, the length of the ends depends of the bottom of your right thigh. Just wrap it around (you can but don't bother too much aligning the thigh's front cover strip with the middle ammo box, the most important is the rivets placement) and then mark the length required on both sides to reach the back of the ridge. Both rivets go through the upper corner of the knee belt wings to the bottom ridge of the thigh. Then you can glue the front to avoid shifting if you want. Rivets are painted white. And if the ammo knee belt makes a 45° angle with the thigh it doesn't matter, it just happens sometimes. Like the one on the right of the picture below: And 2,5mm for the TD strips might be too thick. I fear they would break before bending as much as necessary. Good to see you're back on track though! Rawgee Posted January 10, 2014 Author Report Posted January 10, 2014 (edited) Salut cousin Germain! I will be using Pandatrooper's tutorial for bending belts ---> http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/8757-howto-get-a-good-heat-bend-on-your-belt/ Last night i pretty much trimmed every part of the body, i am probably going to start the strapping tonight or tomorrow. I seem to be better when i work on the build at late hours, is it like that for you guys? Right now i am considering doing a strapping system like the one Pandatrooper's did: Not screen accurate but practical! Edited January 11, 2014 by Rawgee Quote
Rawgee Posted January 11, 2014 Author Report Posted January 11, 2014 Finally i decided to do some painting... (Model Master 2715 French Blue - Testors 1138 Gray Note that Model Master is made by Testors) The brush i used: Quote
Cantina Security[501st] Posted January 11, 2014 Report Posted January 11, 2014 Nice Build. Anxious to see your strapping system. Quote
Barcoder[TK] Posted January 11, 2014 Report Posted January 11, 2014 Looking great! I am interested to see the strapping system as well... How's the fit with the ab/cod section? Do the thighs fit well? It looks like the thighs might butt up really close to the cod... Good job on the buttons. Quote
Rawgee Posted January 11, 2014 Author Report Posted January 11, 2014 (edited) From the first initial tests, they seem close but not as much as i thought, but to be honest i would cut off 1cm of the top of the thighs all the way around just to be sure but i know i won't be able to do the return edge, i've tried heating a few times and it didn't went well... I'll take a picture later to show you. It's crazy how much time i spend on the forum doing research compared to assembling... I have like 20 tab open at the same time... But i guess it's paying off so far, good job on your build as well Peter! Just glued the shoulder straps, again no picture during the process but basically for the left side i stacked two piece of strip together and glued them under the first bump to add more surface touching the chest, for the right side there is a bit of an angle on the chest so i couldn't do the same thing because it would add more rigidity to the shoulder strap with pieces of strip under the first bump resulting in unable to bend it to fit the chest... If that makes sense? :S So since i am not a big guy i decided to leave 6 bump of the shoulder strap on the chest, more would look weird... I have found these pics on WideAMG's build http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/25538-wideamgs-rs-props-pvc-anh-stunt-build/page-4Exactly what i did but i only stacked strip pieces under the first bump: (i suggest using very fast dry glue for this part, that's what i used for the whole build but since there is not much surface that sticks to the chest it's more efficient) Edited January 11, 2014 by Rawgee Quote
Tolo[TK] Posted January 12, 2014 Report Posted January 12, 2014 I can't wait for you to finish it, I want to see the NE armor in person loll. Quote
Haribon72[TK] Posted January 12, 2014 Report Posted January 12, 2014 Great build Martin! I'm also working on my NE build. Quote
Rawgee Posted January 12, 2014 Author Report Posted January 12, 2014 (edited) Thanks Walter! Yours as well! @Tolo It would have fitted you like a glove! Haha But seriously i will probably end up buying another helmet at some point... First the ears doesn't seem like they can fit properly, i'll do my best anyway and the overall shape, it looks more narrower than others, i like wide helmet with low-brow... Anyway we'll see how it turns out...I'm working on it right now, i just cut the teeth, i will continue tomorrow. What do you think? Personally i like them like that, i wanted them to be round shaped rather than square... For a change i used Pandatrooper's ATA Helmet Build as Reference.. haha http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/14806-how-to-assembling-ata-abs-helmet-1/ Ended up doing a second coat on the buttons: Edited January 12, 2014 by Rawgee Quote
The5thHorseman[501st] Posted January 12, 2014 Report Posted January 12, 2014 Teeth look good, and if you prefer them like that, then keep them like that! Salut cousin Germain! Wouhouu, maybe the best pun ever did ! Quote

I was debating on trying to give the top of my thighs the ANH "notches"...but I'd need to do a return edge.... Maybe one day... I hear ya on having 20 tabs open. lol So MUCH research. But yes, it certainly pays off. Quote
Rawgee Posted January 14, 2014 Author Report Posted January 14, 2014 Working on the helmet, was a pain in the butt to assemble the top and the back piece together but i finally did it. Then i installed the brow and the front to decide how i want my helmet to be and drilled holes on both sides. I have an old ATV helmet laying in the basement, i will try and see if i could use the layer inside as this helmet layer, i was thinking i could glue pieces of velcro inside and stick the layer inside so if need to wash it, just take it off, wash it and put it back in! Anyone ever tried that? What do you guys think? Ideas?Painted the inside black. Kitchen in total mess... lol So i started to paint the helmet and this is where i need your advices! Is it ok? One coat of black, will do the gray later tonight or tomorrow if its not dried yet. Back Left side: Right: Side: And i was wondering about the Hovi mic tips, i'm not sure if they need to be matte black or gloss black? And i have to leave the round top edge as it is right?I just realized i forgot the ears... Back to painting I will be waiting for your advices, before going any further with the helmet...Martin Quote
Tolo[TK] Posted January 14, 2014 Report Posted January 14, 2014 (edited) . (Sorry, double poste) Edited January 14, 2014 by Tolo Quote
Tolo[TK] Posted January 14, 2014 Report Posted January 14, 2014 (edited) Mic tips are semi-gloss black. The inside and the ridge of the mic tip should be white. I got mine from Keith on the board. They are trully beautiful. You have sskunky that make nice looking ones two. The vocoder should be semi-gloss black too. To be honnest, mine is gloss black loll. Edited January 14, 2014 by Tolo Quote
Rawgee Posted January 14, 2014 Author Report Posted January 14, 2014 Ok good that's what i thought, thanks Eric! What about the painting? Am i on the right path?Just did the Ears: Quote
Barcoder[TK] Posted January 14, 2014 Report Posted January 14, 2014 Lookin' good! I would let the black dry overnight, just to be safe... I love the inside of the helmet painted black! I think I will tackle that this weekend. Quote

I have seen some have French blue on buttons and on stripes as well...)- Gloss Gray 1138- Gloss White 1145 (For touch up) Vocoder and mic tips first coat: Edited January 14, 2014 by Rawgee Quote
The5thHorseman[501st] Posted January 14, 2014 Report Posted January 14, 2014 Everything looks good so far! Just try to do the black outlines the thinner possible when you will paint the grey And yes, the first coat of paint can take very long to dry so don't forget to check it before applying the second coat. Rawgee Posted January 14, 2014 Author Report Posted January 14, 2014 (edited) Here is an update of my helmet, unfortunately i have not receive Trooperbay stencil yet, so i will have to wait to finish the painting, i'll do a second coat on the gray tomorrow... Turned out better than i thought, i am enjoying this so much right now! Feel free to chime in if you see something wrong or that needs to be improve, i am all ears! Rawgee Posted January 15, 2014 Author Report Posted January 15, 2014 (edited) I'll take that as it's good! Thanks Eric, appreciate your help and advices! So here i am right now, mic tips installed, helmet assembled, i think i've found how i want the front part to be, low brow style, so i am about to put another rivet to fix it and then move on to the ears...Does that seems ok? Before i rivet it for good and i can't come back... Did i mention the ears scares the crap out of me.. :/ Edited January 15, 2014 by Rawgee Quote
