I would also suggest shaving off the top and bottom of the ab belt like you did on the knee belt, to make the edges level with the boxes, like this:

When you do, you can also rework the ends of the belt to make them stop right at the end of the rivet covers for extra accuracy (you'll probably need to trim the 45 degree corners again as well, but it's all easy fixes).  ;)

I know this is a long time coming but I've finally got round to cleaning up my belt..

 

I've trimmed the belt length to be closer to the rivet covers and the with to touch the boxes:
