DizzyStormtrooper[501st] Posted October 12, 2013 Report Posted October 12, 2013 Its old but it'll do. Quote
Locitus[Admin] Posted October 12, 2013 Report Posted October 12, 2013 Don't waste your money on it. Quote
Ales Posted October 12, 2013 Report Posted October 12, 2013 (edited) The armor details are not clearly seen on this picture. But the helmet need to repaint at least. CRL says (for basic approval): "Frown is painted gray and does not leave the teeth area. Six total teeth on the frown are cut out and the frown is tapered at the ends." The butt plate should be separate from kidney plate. See HERE more requirements if you want have hero ANH derive costume. Edited October 12, 2013 by Ales Quote
Ales Posted October 12, 2013 Report Posted October 12, 2013 Don't waste your money on it. Absolutely agree! For this price I got the full ATA kit (if not to take into account the long waiting list). Quote
ST-1 Posted October 12, 2013 Author Report Posted October 12, 2013 Thank you for you advices I just bought it for 550$ and I will have it this week. I will follow your advices for modifications, please feel free to get back to me. Cheers Sylvain Quote
Locitus[Admin] Posted October 12, 2013 Report Posted October 12, 2013 Sorry to hear you've already paid for it. What you have there is the absolute bottom line of what is stormtroopers and there will be a lot of work making that suit work for the modern day requirements. 5-10 years ago it might have passed, but not these days. DizzyStormtrooper[501st] Posted October 12, 2013 Report Posted October 12, 2013 (edited) Just get a new helmet, and if its too big for you you can pm me about making the armor fit properly. The chest needs to be trimmed regardless. Also, there's a drop box missing Edited October 12, 2013 by DizzyStormtrooper Quote
ST-1 Posted October 12, 2013 Author Report Posted October 12, 2013 It is my first costume, and if I become more involved or if it becomes a passion then I will upgrade for a newer and more expensive outfit. For the price I paid I have the undersuit, boots, e-11 holster, I think it's fair and better than a Rubies Thank you very much for comments it is really appreciated. Sylvain Quote
bjsavage7[TK] Posted October 12, 2013 Report Posted October 12, 2013 Honestly, I'd put it right back on eBay & use that money to get an ATA kit. Fixing up a used & outdated suit is always more work than it's worth. Quote
DizzyStormtrooper[501st] Posted October 12, 2013 Report Posted October 12, 2013 But he won't have the experience Quote
bjsavage7[TK] Posted October 13, 2013 Report Posted October 13, 2013 Well, I've done both; built new kits & had to mod old ones, & while I totally agree, going through the motions of modding an old kit absolutely builds character, it was way smoother to just do it to my own measurements from the ground up. ClockworkRonin Posted November 7, 2013 Report Posted November 7, 2013 Um maybe it's just my phone but are the tube stripes black? Quote
Dark PWF[Staff] Posted November 7, 2013 Report Posted November 7, 2013 Um maybe it's just my phone but are the tube stripes black? Unless your phone and my computer are looking at it from a similar point of view, I'd say that it is not your phone, and the tube stripes are black - and poorly placed to boot. Quote
Tolo[TK] Posted November 7, 2013 Report Posted November 7, 2013 FX tube stripe were black back in the day. Sent from my iPhone 5 using Tapatalk Quote
Arnie_DK[TK] Posted November 7, 2013 Report Posted November 7, 2013 Would also require new boots. The ones in the picture looks like Caboots, and wont be accepted. Having modded a costume and build one from the bottom up myself, I clear prefer to build it instead of modding it. Modding takes way more time and effort, than just building a kit. Quote
TK3056 Posted November 11, 2013 Report Posted November 11, 2013 Its his first suit, maybe a local garrison can help him out. Congrats on your purchase buddy, have fun with it. That is the main point. Quote
Cantina Security[501st] Posted November 11, 2013 Report Posted November 11, 2013 First suit, like me picked up a suit for a descent price available immediately. I will do the same as far as modifying , but I am also in the market for another more accurate suit of armor. At least I will have another suit for another trooper . Here we have zero troopers. Looks similar to mine. Have fun. How about the hand guards , don't they need to be rubber? Quote
Locitus[Admin] Posted November 11, 2013 Report Posted November 11, 2013 How about the hand guards , don't they need to be rubber? Only if you're making an ANH version and go for accuracy. Quote
