I've come to the point where I need to make my TD clips. Everyone says "just take some aluminum flat bar and bend it." Well what kind of store sells it? Are the bankers clips acceptable anymore?

I want to do it with real aluuminum flat bar if possible. Is it at the hardware store? Is it expensive?

All help is greatly appreciated!

For the life of me I couldn't find any in my region of Canada. Desperate, I roamed the aisles of WalMart. In the hardware section, I found an aluminum yard stick for about $5. It is about 1 1/8" wide, which I understand is the original width of TD clips. I was able to quickly sand off the numbers and markings while at the same time giving a brushed aluminum look. Anyways, it's a pretty good option if you can't find raw flat aluminum....

I did the same thing Andy did. Used one of my rulers(aluminum) and sanded off the numbers then bent to shape. Works great!!!

I bought my metal at True Value or Sears. Both places have small hobby racks or all kinds of litle metal pieces from round and square tubing to flat metal sheets in many different thicknesses.

Measure, score and break. Done. :)

I have over 100 pieces of 1 1/8" flat aluminium bar that I had cut for my canister clips. PM me if you need some.

I got mine at Lowe's.  It's cheap.  They have a whole section of various flat pieces of metal.  Home Depot should too.
