troopermaster Posted July 2, 2013 Report Posted July 2, 2013 The white elastic tethers are supposed to be on your back plate to hold the ribbed shoulder straps in place. The shoulder straps should be glued to your chest plate. Good to see you have the brackets in the correct position. Can you post a photo of your biceps showing the outer halves? It looks like you might have them upside down and there is a lot of return edge on them and your forearms too. Quote

troopermaster Posted July 2, 2013 Report Posted July 2, 2013 They are fine I would still trim more off the return edges though. Quote
Holnave (evan_loh)[TK] Posted July 2, 2013 Author Report Posted July 2, 2013 Will do! I'm just giving all the pieces a test fit. So far the body armour fits well but buckles on the right and at the bottom seem to pop off after some movement. The shins seem to be a little long (looks like I have short shins). Will upload some pics of the shins when I glued the knee plate. Quote
troopermaster Posted July 2, 2013 Report Posted July 2, 2013 Do you mean the snaps/press studs? Those will be fine once you have your belt on your armour. You want to have everything worn together before you start making any changes or worrying about something unnecessarily. Quote
Holnave (evan_loh)[TK] Posted July 2, 2013 Author Report Posted July 2, 2013 Ah ok. I guessing the belt presses the armour and holds it all together Quote
gmrhodes13[Staff] Posted July 2, 2013 Report Posted July 2, 2013 I use a belt and braces, then elastic to hold the thighs up, there is also elastic between the shoulder bells, biceps, forearms, keeps everything in the right places. You can also put elastic from you're boots to the bottom of you're shins this will keep them from drifting up. There are all different ways people add elastic, have a look through some of the build threads, I think there also may be a few how too's also. Quote

Thankfully there's a fabric shop nearby my place. Gonna make a trip there to look for some elastics Edited July 3, 2013 by evan_loh Quote
Holnave (evan_loh)[TK] Posted July 22, 2013 Author Report Posted July 22, 2013 (edited) Belt has just arrived. I stitched the elastic straps into a loop and glued them to the back of the dropboxes. I'm unsure whether they're glued or riveted. I have seen some build threads where the rivet them but I want to be sure first. At the moment the glued dropboxes still hold pretty fine. I am still waiting for the caps to arrive. Will update as soon as I get them. Edited February 18, 2014 by evan_loh Quote
gmrhodes13[Staff] Posted July 22, 2013 Report Posted July 22, 2013 Looking good I would move your drop boxes to the end of the belt, the glue should hold the fine, mine have not dropped off as yet. Keep up the great work Quote

Holnave (evan_loh)[TK] Posted July 31, 2013 Author Report Posted July 31, 2013 Buttons haven't arrived so I've decided to make my own temporary one for the pictures... I have recently applied for a spot in the 501st. Hopefully they will get back to me soon! And then I can get this cleared in the UK Garrison too Quote
Holnave (evan_loh)[TK] Posted August 10, 2013 Author Report Posted August 10, 2013 I have trimmed behind the knees and adjusted the ab plate to go up higher by a little. My left shoulder is fine but was in an awkward position when the shot was takenA couple of shots that weren't too visible from the pics Quote
Holnave (evan_loh)[TK] Posted September 2, 2013 Author Report Posted September 2, 2013 Not some major differences here but I tapered the thighs a little. I didn't want to overdo it as I'm not too comfortable trimming off too much now that, I hope, I'm pretty much there. Here's a close up shot of the elastic bands and how it looks on me.. It was recommended that I trim back of the knees for more comfortable movement so I did some Hoping to get cleared soon! Can't wait to be a part of the Legion and start trooping with others Quote
gmrhodes13[Staff] Posted September 2, 2013 Report Posted September 2, 2013 Looking good, hopefully approval won't take too long Quote
