That's too bad. :(

I found something that might work. I have more than one so if you PM me your address I'll send one to you tomorrow for you to try out.

And also. Since you have started with your build you should start a build thread. :)

Thanks for the offer! PMed you!

What did you have in mind that would work? The problem with the 3mm thick is that it's really hard bend it where you want.

It's a new D-ring that is more "real deal" than the one from the kit. I found a few while going through trash at work. Should be easier to work with. Have no chance of testing myself yet so you'll be first to try. Will post it to you today.

Thanks! :)

(And eventually it'll be a finished build too. Got sidetracked.)

Have you had any progress Maxim? More specifically the fixing of resin parts onto the metal? I'm about to tackle this same project and am not sure whether to start drilling my IKEA leg or find a plastic pipe.

Hi Ian,

Sadly no. This build got side tracked quite a bit and I haven't had working space for the last bit of polishing. As you no doubt know it gets quite dusty when polishing the resin parts. :)

I do not, however, foresee a problem in gluing the resin parts to the metal. E6000 and other competent glues should to the trick.

The IKEA leg gives the build a considerable heft so if that's what you want I think you should stick to the leg. It gives more of a real feel to it. :)

Thanks Maxim. Was thinking of some extra 'pin' type reinforcing along with 2 part epoxy. However my leg is only 1.1mm thick, so not much for the pin to grab hold of.

My second problem, is that I think Lou has made the inner bolt smaller to accommodate most people using thick wall PVC pipe, so I'll need to pack that out somehow so it doesn't wobble around in the pipe...
