Shims and split rivets

Hello TK world,

 

     As i'm in the progress of making my armor more accurate to get my "TK number", I started questioning the split rivets location. Being a shim is the extension of the kidney plate, my split rivets, should they go on the shim or do I put them on the kidney plate? I have looked some pictures in the " Request Centurion Status" forum and I see both ways. Which one is better?

Hi tolo, depending on the size of the shims really. But if at all possible, they need to be 10mm from the edge of each piece. Basically, the rivets should be relocated onto the shim itself.

 

Now if the shim is only a few CM, it won't be a big deal either way. But to hold the proper look the rivets need to go on the shims about 10mm from the edge of each piece.

Thank you for your help. I will install them on my shim, since I have a pretty big gap between my kidney and Ab plate.
