dm101[TK] Posted March 14, 2013 Report Posted March 14, 2013 OK you experts. I am attempting to come up with a scope mounting location for the Doopy’s resin kit. I figured my location by using the three photos of Han, Luke and Leia holding their blasters. I know how wide the rear sight is. I measure it at 1-1/32†wide. So it looks to me like the end of the scope is three rear sights up the gun (see the Leia image). I looked around the FISD forum and was only able to find a reference at this thread- http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/14817-advanced-anh-weaponry-e-11-blaster/ Quote
SubSkip[TK] Posted March 14, 2013 Report Posted March 14, 2013 I used this: http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/4697-howto-make-a-metal-scope-rail-counter-bracket/#entry60157 Quote
Dday[501st] Posted March 14, 2013 Report Posted March 14, 2013 The photos you have are probably the best reference you can have, nice job and you would be perfect in following those guidelines. Quote
TK bondservnt[501st] Posted March 14, 2013 Report Posted March 14, 2013 (edited) the rail is 3/4" wide and the rear foot on an m38 aligns with the folding stock hinge. for an m19 scope the rear foot is aligned just a 1/4" farther back than the hinge. han is holding an m19 scope version while luke and leia also have the m19 edited for scope correction. you can also see the small section of T Track on the top of the scope. gmrhodes13[Staff] Posted March 14, 2013 Report Posted March 14, 2013 There where so many versions in the movie, different scopes, placed differently, with or without power cylinders, listen to Vern he is a blaster guru Quote
Nicky Posted March 15, 2013 Report Posted March 15, 2013 I'd worry more about how the holster was cut. The scope is the first thing that stops the blaster from going straight through. Then the mag well. Quote

TK bondservnt[501st] Posted March 16, 2013 Report Posted March 16, 2013 (edited) the blank firing guns were tossed around quite a bit during the luke han leia detention block scene. in several situations the guns all get passed around. in fact in the photos above the scopes are all m19's Edited March 16, 2013 by TK Bondservnt 2392 Quote
dm101[TK] Posted March 22, 2013 Author Report Posted March 22, 2013 OK - so the three photos I picked of Han, Luke and Leia all use the M19 scope. I thought as much, but wanted to check. Dradts !!! . So back to my original question/statement. The doopy's comes with the M38 scope (see massive close up shot below). Would the M38 rear scope foot align with the folding stock hinge? Quote
TK bondservnt[501st] Posted March 23, 2013 Report Posted March 23, 2013 (edited) the alignment varys. I like to center the rear foot directly above the hinge. and I like to center the hengstler logo directly across from the front foot of the scope. this puts the scope, and counter closer to the magazine well, and it varys from billhag's templates by about 1/4" or so. I like to keep the counter and scope close to the mag well. this is probably the best shot scope on the left is m19 scope on the right is m38 you can see how close the scope and counter are to the magazine in this shot. also seen is a small cut section of T Track glued to the top of the scope. nmcguff Posted March 23, 2013 Report Posted March 23, 2013 I just noticed the scope rails on the far left and the center appear to be not painted. Quote
TK bondservnt[501st] Posted March 23, 2013 Report Posted March 23, 2013 (edited) on the left it's just the lighting reflecting the white armor in the black. movie lighting in this scene is quite white. or it's the unpainted blaster rail we've seen in other screenshots. we'll have to look at the scene again! white walls, white armor, white lights... all adds up to white washed out reflections. they are all painted if you watch the scene with movement? the trooper in the center is using the same blaster as luke in the photos, you can tell by the T Track glued to the scope. this version appears to have a longer magazine, since most likely it's a blank firing real sterling. the other 2 troopers have painted sight rails as well, again it's partially the weathering and lighting. dm101[TK] Posted May 17, 2013 Author Report Posted May 17, 2013 OK sorry for the long delay. This is my "suggested" mounting location for the Doopy's M38 Scope. Quote
