FunkyTrigger[TK] Posted February 28, 2013 Report Posted February 28, 2013 I don't recognize all 3 of the guns from either of the original trilogy films. Quote
troopermaster Posted February 28, 2013 Report Posted February 28, 2013 (edited) I believe it is a variation of the Type 67 Machine Gun. Edited February 28, 2013 by troopermaster Quote

Tray[TK] Posted February 28, 2013 Report Posted February 28, 2013 the one in the front is not anything in the star wars universe. Quote
walt[501st] Posted March 1, 2013 Report Posted March 1, 2013 that front guy is missing ab buttons and that rear guy is missing the ab plate,,,and cant be a sandy cuz he has drop boxes..... Quote
Sonnenschein Posted March 1, 2013 Report Posted March 1, 2013 Yeah, this is the famous Darth "Funky Helmet" Vader pic series. They did some promo after ANH and they cobbled together what they found. IIRC, this is Kermit Eller as Vader. Don't know nothing 'bout guns, though. Sorry Quote
NoVATie[Admin] Posted March 1, 2013 Report Posted March 1, 2013 that front guy is missing ab buttons and that rear guy is missing the ab plate,,,and cant be a sandy cuz he has drop boxes..... And the guys have TD knee plates. Pretty sure it's a promo pic, i.e. anything goes! Quote
skyone Posted March 2, 2013 Author Report Posted March 2, 2013 Pretty sure it's a promo pic, i.e. anything goes! this is the description from swhelmets site Here's a publicity shot done in the UK in late 1977 / early 1978 for the UK release. Its clear that they've just tried to pull together any bits and pieces they can get their hands on including parts from both Stormtroopers and Sandtroopers (check the knee plates and the left troopers stomach box). Vader himself also seems to have a wonky dome and may well be the ANH original, which did not have a reliable fixing mechanism. It featured in the UK Monthly Poster mag (Spring '78). Quote
carbonitekid Posted March 2, 2013 Report Posted March 2, 2013 Ok, so my mind may be playing tricks on me but...... Wasn't there a Japanese promo pic with a weird blaster in it? Some Japanese issue machinegun/pistol ? Quote
Turrican Posted March 2, 2013 Report Posted March 2, 2013 The base of the gun looks like a MAC-10. Quote

FunkyTrigger[TK] Posted March 2, 2013 Report Posted March 2, 2013 Thanks Billy. It was the magazine barrels on the rifles of the background troopers that threw me. Quote
JackSpratt Posted March 5, 2013 Report Posted March 5, 2013 The 99MG was actually Luke's prototype blaster but never made it on screen. I have a Hyperfirm style version. Quote
