charlesnarles Posted October 11, 2015 Report Posted October 11, 2015 I've read to use any old sock, but Amazon has ones designed for hobby irons Quote
pandatrooper[TK] Posted October 12, 2015 Report Posted October 12, 2015 If its a Teflon coated one, just use it straight up. It's its the steel one, use a think piece of fabric like fine woven cotton or canvas. Test a scrap piece of plastic first as the cloth covered irons can leave an impression on the plastic if you hold it in place too long. Here's a video I made a few years ago as tutorial.https://youtu.be/OJwOmIS4hSw Quote
TakoTuesday[501st] Posted October 13, 2015 Report Posted October 13, 2015 Thanks for the tip on the Teflon coated iron. I was just looking at picking one up to try and add the accurate notch on the thighs. Quote
CommanderZel Posted October 13, 2015 Report Posted October 13, 2015 Awesome. Thanks! I'll try a sock with scrap plastic first and if that doesn't work I'll try to find something higher-quality. Quote
Impatience[TK] Posted November 26, 2015 Report Posted November 26, 2015 Thanks for this tutorial. I was able to successfully create a return edge on some scrap plastic. Indeed the sock does leave imprints in the plastic as I'm molding it, so I figure a few different types of sand paper and procuring some Novus is in my future to bring the shine back. Quote
