FunkyTrigger[TK] Posted January 3, 2013 Report Posted January 3, 2013 Are those Velcro closed Forearms David? Quote
rhapsodyred99[TK] Posted January 3, 2013 Report Posted January 3, 2013 Well I think the Top hat Pic should be worth Bonus Points anyway... I see really only one thing that might catch you up: The helmet decals do not seem to simulate hand painting, but maybe if you could say what brand they are (I am pretty sure the stock AP decals are "computer clean") you could prove me wrong. (the traps and tears) and possibly: I think you did a pretty good Job on the shims, but it will be up to the DO to decide if they are "seamless" enough (believe me I feel your pain I had to add 2.5 inches on mine...you get sooooo tired of sanding....) These are suggestions as I do not see anything in the CRL about them but it is something I noticed: The Velcro forearms do meet the letter of the CRL with them being fully closed, but you might think of glueing them as it will make the seam less "fat" The Belt seems to be down a bit, it usually sits just a little below if not just on top of the Ab Button details, Granted there is NOTHING I can find in the CRL that says you have to do this, but it is how the Screen TKs wore theirs and you might think of hitching it up and seeing how you like it on future suit ups. Overall I think its a great build that fits you well and as previously stated the top hat pic is pure win...You need to get Mathias's Painter friend to paint that pic... Quote
svache[501st] Posted January 3, 2013 Report Posted January 3, 2013 I can't see the details since I'm in the car looking on my phone (no worries, i got a driver lol), but from what I can see, I think the armor fits you very well. Good luck with the application Quote
firebladejedi[TK] Posted January 3, 2013 Report Posted January 3, 2013 Yep the helmet stickers and velcroed forearms seemed to draw my eye too... Quote

gmrhodes13[Staff] Posted January 3, 2013 Report Posted January 3, 2013 +1 also your shoulder straps look a litte lop sided in the back shot, are they held with strapping or elastic, should be elastic. Should have a clear view of your D ring. Sniper plate not quite following your shin but may be ok. Just need a couple of tweaks, good luck with approval Quote
svache[501st] Posted January 3, 2013 Report Posted January 3, 2013 Sniper plate not quite following your shin but may be ok. I may be overlooking it but what exactly do you mean? Doesn't look too bad from where I'm looking but, again, I could be looking at something else.. Quote
Echo[TK] Posted January 3, 2013 Report Posted January 3, 2013 The top hat reminded me of this print I bought at a craft fair over the summer. Quote

Locitus[Admin] Posted January 3, 2013 Report Posted January 3, 2013 Can see a lot of the shin, looks as if the sniper plate could have come up a bit on this side I disagree. I think it's just fine. The armour doesn't permit the knee plate sitting any higher since the ridges are in the way. But the decals and velcroed forearms are show stoppers in my opinion. Quote
8BitBry Posted January 3, 2013 Report Posted January 3, 2013 (edited) Can see a lot of the shin, looks as if the sniper plate could have come up a bit on this side Do the holster straps need to be changed for Centurion? I notice they're ESB black, not ANH tan. EDIT: nevermind, see my thread http://www.whitearmo...ter-loop-color/ Edited January 3, 2013 by 8BitBry Quote
niugnep[TK] Posted January 3, 2013 Author Report Posted January 3, 2013 Damn. I'm utterly embarrassed. I fixed the forearms. I just always did it that way, but that's no excuse. I apologize for the oversight. Just show that they are indeed now glued. Now to just clean up some e6000. As for the helmet. The CRL says that I can use decals that emulate hand painted... a thought occurred to me that perhaps I could paint decals. So, I submit to the community: The lines themselves, I just painted over with a very fine brush freehand. The outlines, I used tape to protect from my shaky hands. A wider view of the process New front view New left side view New back view New right side view Thank you again! Quote
Locitus[Admin] Posted January 3, 2013 Report Posted January 3, 2013 See my comment in the other centurion thread where he did the same tho his decals. I feel that it applies to yours as well: http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/22493-tk-27555-requesting-anh-stunt-centurion-status/page__st__20#entry281394 While technically permitted, I feel that this is not a method that should be encouraged. Either take the time to paint it all, or pony up the extra $20 dollars or so for proper decals. Quote

I don't specifically see what you mention, but perhaps I need to take a heat gun to them again for a little more bend. The D-ring was in my EIB application... Sorry about the oversight... Quote

And yes, they're AP decals. Edited January 3, 2013 by niugnep Quote
Locitus[Admin] Posted January 3, 2013 Report Posted January 3, 2013 Already ordered from trooperbay. This is merely a stopgap... and I do think it looks better. Very good. In the meantime I suggest working on cover strip assembly on the forearms as well, since I'm not approving this request before the decals are replaced anyway. And the cover strip assembly is something we voted on recently and that passed with a big majority so that should count as a requirement as well. If not per CRL, see it as a personal improvement. Not a problem. Can I ask, is there anything else besides these two points that I need to work on? Quote
Locitus[Admin] Posted January 3, 2013 Report Posted January 3, 2013 Not a problem. Can I ask, is there anything else besides these two points that I need to work on? Excellent. Cover strip assembly on all limbs except back of shins (I just noticed your biceps looks like overlap) If you're asking me for nit picking details then this is what I would change: Take away a little more of the front forearm so there is absolutely no return, even in the corners where the ridge with the dents in it meet the edge. Trim the return of the knee plate slimmer. Roughly half of current "thickness". Cut off the other half of the holster straps so there is no loop, just a single strap. Replace white shoulder webbing with white elastic. Drill/cut out the sides of the blaster front sight so it's open to the sides like the original sterling, and drill out a bit of the barrel to give it some depth. Sand/polish some more on the seam where your shim is to hide the seam better. Replace the mic tips with some that has more accurate (tighter) mesh. Assemble biceps slimmer. Looks like you have a lot of space inside them compared to the thickness of your arm. Quote

gmrhodes13[Staff] Posted January 3, 2013 Report Posted January 3, 2013 (edited) This. I've read some have used heat to bring the wings a little closer into the shin. I had to do this with my ATA shin, just looked lop sided and I wasn't happy with it. But it's a personal thing not required for approval by the looks of it. Edited January 3, 2013 by gmrhodes13 Quote

niugnep[TK] Posted January 9, 2013 Author Report Posted January 9, 2013 (edited) Whew. So, I've taken some time to fix the issues that have been raised. And sorry about the delay, this would have been faster but I show to work on... "Dave M" decals on the helmet now Cover strip assembly on all forearms and biceps Took away more of the return edge of front forearms Trimmed biceps circumference by 1/2" Cut off other half of holster strap so there is no loop, just single strap Made sniper plate more flush with left shin Thank you for your time.
