rhapsodyred99[TK] Posted January 2, 2013 Report Posted January 2, 2013 Hey all just wanted to put up a few pics of the RS Propmasters cast from the famous Pugman background blaster in ESB. This is the raw resin prior to any clean up/painting by me. I will do very minimal clean up as the Pugman blaster was a pretty rough cast thing meant for the background shots in ESB and I do not want to ruin the lineage. I will say this seems to be a very good cast and the resin feels nice and solid, but I would be wary of trooping with it, as the trigger guard, selector switch, and the Y of the stock seem a bit fragile for general trooping. I may be wrong as I am comparing the feel of the resin to the feel of the Doopy Doo resin. I plan on this being a display piece to sit on the shelf next to my Real Sterling and the PP "fishpond" lid I also got from RS, so it works great for that. Since I can not possibly afford real props I love getting my hands on great casts of the real thing! Anyway here are a few pics prior to paint: Quote
Bulldog44[TK] Posted January 2, 2013 Report Posted January 2, 2013 Awesome! Great to see this in detail. Looks sturdy but always better to be safe then sorry, display only. Nice purchase. Thanks for posting. Quote
DarthChridan[TK] Posted January 2, 2013 Report Posted January 2, 2013 (edited) Hey Frank... thanks for sharing... but I would rather buy a doobydoos and upgrade this in a pugman blaster with the corresponding parts, then I have a beautiful ESB stunt blaster. But ok, the pugman already looks like "c....p" ...that's another story That's only my opinion. Edited January 2, 2013 by DarthChridan Quote
TK bondservnt[501st] Posted January 3, 2013 Report Posted January 3, 2013 I would troop it. they do fine if you don't hand em off to someone else! Quote
Turrican Posted January 3, 2013 Report Posted January 3, 2013 Perfect weapon for a snowtrooper! Would let it as it is Quote

trooper18938 Posted February 3, 2013 Report Posted February 3, 2013 Question... did RS buy THE Pugman blaster, Pugmans used molds from his 2005 run, or a casting that Pugman had left over from his run, and recast it..... Quote
Gizmo Posted February 3, 2013 Report Posted February 3, 2013 (edited) They made a deal with Pugman. No recasting. Ben Edited February 3, 2013 by Gizmo Quote
trooper18938 Posted February 3, 2013 Report Posted February 3, 2013 I assumed as much. So RS made a mold of The actual Screen used Pugman blaster, producing new molds? Quote
Locitus[Admin] Posted February 3, 2013 Report Posted February 3, 2013 I assumed as much. So RS made a mold of The actual Screen used Pugman blaster, producing new molds? No they bought the old mould and the master. Quote
jkno Posted February 3, 2013 Report Posted February 3, 2013 Congratulations Thank you Mathias. A very cool blaster, I love its roughness Quote
Gizmo Posted February 4, 2013 Report Posted February 4, 2013 (edited) It's a beautiful blaster Edited February 12, 2013 by Gizmo Quote
BGHUNTER Posted February 9, 2013 Report Posted February 9, 2013 Really like these , are you going to udercoat yours before the black, it seems as the Pugman was just straight satin black enamel over the resin Quote
jkno Posted February 11, 2013 Report Posted February 11, 2013 (edited) BTW was the Pugman (cleaned-up) used for the old Don Post Stormtrooper statue: http://www.starwarsh...er_helmets.htm? Edited February 11, 2013 by jkno Quote
BGHUNTER Posted February 16, 2013 Report Posted February 16, 2013 Im about to add the clear plastic inserts to the scope, seems on the pics of the original that the smooth side of the plastic is actually facing in to the scope , were as it seems all replicas ive seen seem to have the smooth side out, Iyt seems logical that the smooth side would be the exposed side, but is this actually the case, we all know that logic doesnt come in to prop making Quote
jkno Posted March 25, 2013 Report Posted March 25, 2013 The COA of this superb blaster arrived some time ago: Quote
rhapsodyred99[TK] Posted April 12, 2013 Author Report Posted April 12, 2013 Here are the shots of mine painted with semi gloss black. No I'm really not that bad of a painter! The cast is just nice and rough as is fitting of a "quick and dirty" background stunt blaster. I did no clean up of the mold what so ever, since I wanted it to look as wonky as the one the mold came from. I did drill a hole in the end where the real Pugman has one for the barrel. Quote
troopermaster Posted April 12, 2013 Report Posted April 12, 2013 Nice blaster, Frank. It looks far too glossy to me though. Real Military weapons have a subdued matte finish and I think blasters look good like this too Quote
rhapsodyred99[TK] Posted April 12, 2013 Author Report Posted April 12, 2013 The rustoleum Semi Gloss (satin) is more gloss than Semi I think... Quote
