nickblack423[501st] Posted December 27, 2012 Report Posted December 27, 2012 (edited) CALLING ALL SANDTROOPERS OF THE 501st LEGION!!! The Mos Eisley Police Department, the dedicated Sandtrooper detachment of the 501st Legion, is staging an audacious recruitment drive in 2013. The purpose being to help bring as many of the Legion's 600+ Sandtroopers to a higher spec of accuracy and workmanship and to fully embrace the spirit of the costumes that were worn on set during the filming of the Tatooine scenes of STAR WARS: A NEW HOPE during 1976. The MEPD was formed in 2000 with a small handful of dedicated Sandtroopers who grouped together in the search for likeminded souls who would help them take their standard armour to the next step of screen accuracy. Since then the detachment has grown exponentially and now has nearly 2,500 members on our forums and over 200 deployed Sandtroopers. To be accepted and cleared as a Sandtrooper in the 501st Legion your armour and equipment must meet certain criteria, set out in the Costume Reference Library (CRL) which can be found on the 501st Legion website here http://www.501st.com...er/index002.php. If you want to take your armour that next step closer to being screen accurate then you can apply for "Police Officer" status within the MEPD. The requirements for this are alot more strict than the 501st base standards, for instance requiring you to have a backpack, no ribbed shoulder straps and some of the helmet details must be more accurate etc. The Police Officer program is the most important part of the MEPD, as this is where we help people to take that first step towards achieving a new level of accuracy for their armour. For those that want to go to the very heights of the Sandtrooper costuming world we have the SWAT program, which rewards troopers who have taken their armour to almost as good as stepping out of the screen. Specific trooper equipment and weathering patterns, mimicking that seen in the film is required and your submission will be put before a rigorous scrutinising panel before acceptance. To date only 15 501st Legion members have attained this status. This is not for the faint hearted! This is where the 2013 Recruitment Campaign comes in. We are hoping that during the year we can encourage as many 501st Legion Sandtroopers as possible, who are not yet deployed MEPD "Police Officers" to join up and submit their armour. The process is easy. Check your kit against the MEPD CRL which can be found here http://www.mepd.net/crl/ and then join us on our forums. If your kit is not yet up to scratch, we have a fleet of willing members who have a vast array of knowledge on all things "TD" and our forums contain so much vital information such as tutorials and behind the scenes reference photos that you are never going to be wanting for information. There are moves afoot for some exclusive MEPD merchandise to entice you in and help us achieve our goal of raising the profile of the Sandtrooper, previously one of the most overlooked characters in the Star Wars universe, but one with a steeped history and a plethora of intricacies and equipment. Who doesn’t want to tote a BFG right? Well we can help you make one here!! Our other goal for 2013 is to expand on our current SWAT quota. Although only 15 members have attained this highest accolade in the MEPD to date, we hope to entice many more to follow the path and get their armour to a fully screen accurate standard. Our team of armourers and our SWAT review panel will work tirelessly to ensure that you have all the relevant information and know-how to make it. So whether you are a complete novice, a 501st Legion Sandtrooper, or a currently deployed "Police Officer" then we want to see you on our forums in 2013. We are here to help you spread the joy of this wonderful group of enthusiasts who take weathering, BFGs and backpacks very seriously, but do so with a smile and a laugh! I can honestly say that the MEPD brotherhood is one of the most welcoming and open on the net and you will certainly not find any “scum and villainy!†MEPD - "WE FIGHT DIRTY" www.mepd.net Please help us to spread the word and gain maximum exposure to 501st members by copying this topic into your own garrison or detachment forums. rhapsodyred99[TK] Posted December 31, 2012 Report Posted December 31, 2012 I will be converting my rs propmasters tk to a td in 2013. I have started the groundwork br removing the shoulder bridges ab buttons and sniper plate and adding the td buttons and sniper. Easy to do as i assembled with e6000 and my rs kit came with td parts. I plan to at least get deployed but am not sure i have the skill for swat as this suit started as a tk trying to rebuild it to match 100% a screen suit may be beyond me. But we will see! Quote
TK Keith[TK] Posted December 31, 2012 Report Posted December 31, 2012 Soooooo tempting. It's times like these that I really wish I was rich. Maybe I can use the money I make teaching summer school for this project. Quote
71CobraTrooper[TK] Posted April 21, 2014 Report Posted April 21, 2014 This is my first FISD post. I hope to get rolling soon. I am a conservation biologist in TX. So much red dirt. My research site could easily be located on Tatooine. I can't think of any better position than Sandtrooper. Quote
