inabit Posted October 24, 2012 Report Posted October 24, 2012 guys whats the best way to stop the helmet steaming up? after about 2/3 mins my eye lenses start to steam over and it becomes hard to see. any advise or links would be greatful Quote
FunkyTrigger[TK] Posted October 24, 2012 Report Posted October 24, 2012 I had a few suggestions that the UKG use. 1. Put some washing up liquid on a tissue. Then rub it into the lens. Then polish off. 2. You can do the same thing with a motorcycle visor cleaner substance. 3. Insert a small fan in your helmet for airflow? Directed at the lens. Mine is located under the lens facing upwards. This provides ventilation to the face and acts as a demister. The washing up liquid works very well though, also tried that. Good luck Trooper. Quote
inabit Posted October 24, 2012 Author Report Posted October 24, 2012 im waiting to hear back about a fan, but ill do the washing up liquid trick as well Quote
LadyInWhite[TK] Posted October 24, 2012 Report Posted October 24, 2012 Don't seal your eye lenses all the way around. Allow a little room for them to get air flow under the curve, especially on the bottom. And don't use too thick a mesh on the teeth holes so your moist breath can vent properly. Fans. Fans. Fans. captsafe66[Admin] Posted October 24, 2012 Report Posted October 24, 2012 My fans work great! Air on my face keeps me cooler too. Quote
Tray[TK] Posted October 24, 2012 Report Posted October 24, 2012 I have 2 fans in my helmet. I usually use one of them but sometimes if it is too hot I turn both on. It also lets me extend the time I can troop using one then as it dies I can turn the second one on. I have never put stuff on my lenses so I can't answer for those. Quote
Mongoose[TK] Posted October 24, 2012 Report Posted October 24, 2012 I have 1 fan in my helmet. Keeps everything from fogging up and also gives some fresh air as it sucks air in through the mesh frown. Works really well. Quote
rhapsodyred99[TK] Posted October 24, 2012 Report Posted October 24, 2012 how are the fans as far as noise level? It is hard to hear in my bucket anyway, I was afraid a fan would make it impossible. Quote
inabit Posted October 24, 2012 Author Report Posted October 24, 2012 (edited) -------------- i found these, with a little work they will do the job nicely, thanks for all your help. Edited December 22, 2021 by gmrhodes13 link not working removed Quote
Evilboy[501st] Posted October 24, 2012 Report Posted October 24, 2012 I sell the fan kits if you are interested. See the link below. Quote
bigironvault Posted October 24, 2012 Report Posted October 24, 2012 Don't seal your lenses up and use fans. I have two squirrel fans and I never had my lenses fog up - even in a very sweaty, crowded convention. Quote
southsidetrooper Posted October 24, 2012 Report Posted October 24, 2012 This is the spray I use on my hockey visor. While, I haven't finished my helmet yet, I would imagine that it would work on bucket eyes as well.. http://www.totalhockey.com/product/No_Foggn_Way_Anti_Fog_Spray/itm/2977-2/ Quote
TKRalf[TK] Posted October 24, 2012 Report Posted October 24, 2012 Fans always clear up my eyes. Quote
magicmemories2[TK] Posted October 24, 2012 Report Posted October 24, 2012 I use over the counter (rain-x) for inside use. from Walmart auto Dept. , I have installed two fans,(one is back-up) one for regular useage. and the advice of leving a little air gap under the lens works great. Quote
inabit Posted October 26, 2012 Author Report Posted October 26, 2012 ive removed the seal from bottom of lens, and i have two small 9v powered fans on route. cheers guys Quote
bobojuice Posted October 26, 2012 Report Posted October 26, 2012 I keep a couple of fans as an exhaust in the mouth area. This has stopped pretty much all fogging up for me. Quote
