I'm sorry? I was told directly from Tom that he and the MBO authorized my selling of the shirt. Did I miss something?

Whoooops!! :)

So that's a Detachment CO giving permision to a Non-501st member to produce and sell branded 501st merchandise, who then trys to sell them to other Non-501st members

Ā

.....oh dear, oh dear, oh dear

Wow you two are really showing the "Troopers helping troopers" example here. Neither of you have asked about the scenario instead you snipe comments towards the situation instead of maybe oh I don't know...maybe trying to help get what I'm trying to do on the right track? Yes, you have an excited non-member who went out of his way to come up with a shirt before his first troop even because he is so impressed with this organization that he donates time, money and effort in any way he can to be a part of it until he gets his kit and starts his journey. There isn't even any money to be made on this so what is your angle exactly? Obviously there is confusion about the process here, so what do I need to do to get this project on track?

How is stating the 501st rules 'sniping' mate?

As for an angle?,...that IS the angle,....501st merchandise can not be sold to non 501st members...FULL STOP!

As for your enthusiasm and dedication to the FISD & the 501st, I applaud it whole heartedly, and long may it continue :)

I have absolutely no desire to debate the content of your original post that was apparently dripping with sarcasm. There are unlimited examples of stating facts on this forum and this "non-member" is not going to argue with an "old school elite" about the nature of his comment. I would have more than welcomed simple redirection of my project, that's one of the things that I already love so much about the FISD is that most people have a genuine desire to help someone achieve what they set out to do. Hey though, free speech and all that right? You're more than allowed to be witty with your comments. :D

Keep it civil, gentlemen.

Ā

As for the issue at hand, Bill is right. Legion branded merchandise has to go through an approval process through the main legion command, not just the FISD. I think I told you this a couple of times before.

...and I listened to your guidance and took the shirt to Tom. He them took it to the MBO ans as it states on the shirt thread I created they both approved the shirt to be sold. If there is an issue with the process after that and it needs redirection then it would be fantastic if someone would offer actual help instead of resistance. Sure, I welcome the quoting of rules and regulations but I have come to expect the quoting to be followed up with guidance, not this nonsense that has taken place this morning.

Guys -

Ā

As you can see on the previous replies there is obviously issues with the process so far, a thread for the shirt has been started to generate demand but as far as who can buy it is going to have to be straightened out.

So let's summarize then:

You make a kick-an impolite person design (I like it too) and ask for permission to sell it

Rougetrooper and Daetrin like it and allow you to use the FISD "brand"

They then take it to the Legion Merchandise Branding Officer who signs off for the design and allows it to be made

.... we are here...

Ā

Ā

At what point did anyone tell you it would be okey to sell this to non-members? While you as non-member yourself understandably have limited access to the documentation (forum posts) that dictate how Legion apparel and merchandise may be sold, I would have assumed that someone should have told you the rules.

Ā

And if not, then here they (or some of them) are:

Ā

Charter Rules

Ā

Per Article VIII of the 501st Charter, the following rules apply to all 501st Legion merchandise (including Garrison, Squad, Outpost and Detachment material):

Ā

1 - Any items bearing the words "501st Legion", "Fighting 501st", "Vader's Fist" or the 501st Logo are considered representative of the 501st Legion club. Such proposed items are to be submitted to the Legion Commander and administrative staff before being produced. The Legion CO, Legion XO, and administrative staff have final word on approval. [Note: In practice, the Legion CO has granted approval powers to the Legion Merchandise Officer]

2 - 501st items must be free of vulgarity.

3 - 501st items must be as free of copyrighted material as possible.

4 - 501st items must be sold only to club members and at cost.

5 - 501st items must not be advertised openly on eBay or other forums to the general public.

6 - 501st items must not be tied to any outside commercial entity or venture.

7 - 501st items must not misrepresent or misidentify its user/wearer in any role other than as a member or supporter of the 501st Legion fan club. No shirt will bear the label 'Security' or 'Staff' unless created with the full permission of an event organizer and labeled specifically for that event only.

8 - 501st items specifying a sub-unit of the club are allowed and encouraged. Such examples would be items promoting 501st Garrisons, Squads, and Detachments. Out of the above eight rules, the one that deserves special note is #4. 501st material should never be sold to non-members of the 501st Legion. The exception to this rule is members of the Rebel Legion, whose status as sister club to the 501st permits sales to those members. The price on any and all merchandise should not exceed the cost of production, distribution, and any transaction fees incurred during the sale of merchandise.

Emphasis mine.

Ā

If any one else doubts what I'm posting, here is the full post: http://www.501st.com...opic.php?t=1684

Ā

I don't mean any offence or "sniping" or spoiling you work Tony. I'm just letting you know what's up, since it would seem that others failed to do so before.

Ā

So in effect, this doesn't de-rail you shirt project. It only means that you need to know, and make sure of, that you are not allowed to sell the shirt to non-501st members. That's all.

Posted

I've contacted Skaught about this and will return with a reply once I get one. Until then, I have placed the thread for that shirt on a hold.

Ā

I understand your enthusiasm, but rules are rules.

This is the guidance I was provided:

I assume that since the MBO and the DL give the go ahead that things are fine, because as you both have said and I have agreed rules are indeed rules. I am done with this marry go round of finger pointing. I was surprised at the lack of redirection given at the time of pointing out the faults. Now you have the why of this whole thing.

Bobojuice I appreciate the communication on enforcing the guidelines and rules that you have given to this project. Since the shirt doesn't have a price or an actual offer for ordering yet I don't believe there is anything wrong with the post staying up to generate demand, am I wrong

I'm sorry that no one informed you of the members-only rule, or gave you a full copy the rules. I'm just letting you know that while you have the go ahead to make and sell the shirt (at cost) you may only sell it to legion members.

Ā

I'm not here to point fingers, I'm just letting you know. Your shirt-thread still exists, it's just been hidden temporarily.

Tony,

I think Luis and Mathias have now clarified the situation and have stepped up to assist you

in helping with your proposed project.

I feel that my comments may have touched a nerve by your reaction. Just so you know the term

Ć¢ā‚¬ĖœTroopers Helping TroopersĆ¢ā‚¬ā„¢ originated from myself and Aaron Ć¢ā‚¬ā€œ synaptyx when we were both on staff here, so IĆ¢ā‚¬ā„¢ll think youĆ¢ā‚¬ā„¢ll find that I am fully aware of the meaning of it and it is something that whole heartedly believe in and practice day in, day out as a Staff member for the UKG.

Now just because my comments were not all Ć¢ā‚¬Ėœlovey-doveyĆ¢ā‚¬ā„¢ and Ć¢ā‚¬Å“Hey Bud!, errrm, not sure if you know but....blah-blah-blahĆ¢ā‚¬ doesnĆ¢ā‚¬ā„¢t mean that IĆ¢ā‚¬ā„¢m being nasty and unhelpful, I was just stating the facts. Confrontation was not my aim, but appears to have been yours by the way you have reacted and the subtle little digs you have thrown in for good measure. ThatĆ¢ā‚¬ā„¢s OK, it shows you have passion,

which is great, so IĆ¢ā‚¬ā„¢ll let it slide. The fact is we both know nothing about each other so neither of us as a right to get personal. Those that do know me know that IĆ¢ā‚¬ā„¢m a straight talker, I donĆ¢ā‚¬ā„¢t fluff and fanny about with my opinions or comments, I say it like it is, and often with a very warped sense of humour which is not always appreciated or understood by everyone.

As I said at the beginning, it appears you now have the help you need to hopefully sort things out,

so allĆ¢ā‚¬ā„¢s well that ends well. The best of luck with your project.

Nothing more to say that I didn't already say in my PM to you. It is what it is and you're right, I don't know you and I can't hold it against you that your style in helping is different than what I'd prefer. *shrug* I don't take digs and sorry if you felt slighted, I call them like I see them and you came across how you did...again...as someone who doesn't know you would perceive it. :D Good thing I'm not 12, it could have been taken personally.
