TrooperJesse[TK] Posted October 21, 2012 Report Posted October 21, 2012 Man, I received my iCOMM device today and may I add that if you ever even considered ordering one I would say don't even second think it. Buy one! It's essential to finishing your troopers build. Quote
kaa1304[TK] Posted October 21, 2012 Report Posted October 21, 2012 I got an iComm recently and even after getting stung by customs, have to say it's pretty damn cool. I would suggest replacing the mic, though, as the headset that it comes with is a bit rubbish. Quote
TD-3425 Posted October 21, 2012 Report Posted October 21, 2012 (edited) The iComm doesn't come with a mic. If you ordered an Aker 10 watt amp from Jim, the Aker is what comes with a mic. I personally have been trooping with that mic for a year and never had any issues. Edited October 21, 2012 by TK3425 Quote
TrooperJesse[TK] Posted October 21, 2012 Author Report Posted October 21, 2012 Yea I ordered my aker 12wt from amazon. It works great for me I love it! So far no troubles with the mic and even if I did I have plenty of mics laying around Quote

Arsey666 Posted October 26, 2012 Report Posted October 26, 2012 Hi, I just ordered me one of these bad boys, how long did delivery take to England Kevin?? Quote
P3laton3[501st] Posted November 7, 2012 Report Posted November 7, 2012 what did you order Dave? just the iComm or all in once Aker/iComm/mic ? are you going to use an mp3 player later on? Quote
TrooperJesse[TK] Posted November 7, 2012 Author Report Posted November 7, 2012 I just ordered the iComm from him and the aker i got from amazon and it came with the mic. I will be using an MP3 later on for random noises like the imperal walk, and other random noises i got from online. (Star wars noises) ofcourse Quote
TrooperJesse[TK] Posted November 7, 2012 Author Report Posted November 7, 2012 Oops i am not dave hahaha Quote
P3laton3[501st] Posted November 7, 2012 Report Posted November 7, 2012 hihihih is the same I bought the aker on ebay at 29gpb delivered which is good, but I am going to buy the icomm to add the soundburst. What about the ppt cable, is it useful or are you used to keep the amplifier always on? Quote
TrooperJesse[TK] Posted November 7, 2012 Author Report Posted November 7, 2012 Well I have messed with it and I like it with the PTT button the best. People won't year everything you say or if you cough or something. I prefer the PTT Quote
Laspector[TK] Posted November 8, 2012 Report Posted November 8, 2012 Yeah, I finally gave up on the VOX method, too. I just had my first troop using the AKER/ICOMM combo and it's great. Took a little bit to get used to having to push the PPT switch everytime I talked (as I was used to my Skullworx having a hot mic) but it all worked out in the end. The only problem was I was with a group of about 12 other troopers and I was the only one with the whole set up so I was the one who actually seemed out of place. Had a few observers ask me why my sound system was "broken". 1 Quote

TK O.K. Posted March 2, 2013 Report Posted March 2, 2013 Is the hand switch most common now? Vox and wireless sound top of the line but do they really perform? Quote
Clamps[TK] Posted March 2, 2013 Report Posted March 2, 2013 I still have not even tried to troop with PTT. I really need to have a go with it. I have been using VOX, most of the time without the iComm, as I have been too lazy to hook up on troops. Quote
DizzyStormtrooper[501st] Posted March 2, 2013 Report Posted March 2, 2013 The wireless mics are rare aren't they? Anyhow the headset the comes with it, you have to put really close to your mouth for maximum performance, angle it away slightly so when your pronounce P's F's and S's it doesn't go directly into the mic. The ptt cable is pretty much a necessity, with icomm or not. It makes a chk sound when pressed and conserves battery life. Cover the button with a small water balloon before putting it in your glove to extend life and prevent sweat from ruining it Quote
flerndip Posted March 7, 2013 Report Posted March 7, 2013 (edited) I agree with the OP. I just got my ICOMM + Aker MR1506 today and it is even better than I expected, and I expected a lot. It is LOUD and surprisingly clear. Never having seen it before, I immediately donned the headphones wrong only to discover that the mic didn't seem to be working. That's how effective its directionality is. Worn properly, I had no trouble at all breaking the VOX threshold. Worn improperly, I have to shout to trigger it. That suggests to me that I won't be having any trouble with ambient or fan noise setting it off, and it comes with a PTT (push to talk) cable for situations that demand it. I should add that Jim shipped my order within an hour of placing it. I've got his flexible mannakin arriving hopefully tomorrow! edit: Apparently I got one of the new models with a protective sheath around the PTT button to protect it from moisture. Thanks!
